My BIL just left a message on my machine that he has 2 tickets for Nassau Coliseum tomorrow and wants to know if I want them? I don't know much about Joel Osteen. Im not very religious. Should I go anyway?
Does anyone know about him? Would you go?

Re: Joel Osteen?
I've never heard of him, so I can't help you with that. But I'm not very religious either - I personally wouldn't go.
eta- if you do decide to go, I hope you have a good time.

Re: Joel Osteen?
He has one of the biggest churches in the country I believe. He pastors a church in TX and its HUGE!! I watch him sometimes on TV. His messages arent always Bible-based, alot of times they are good life lessons, if that would make you feel less uncomfortable about going.
Im sure the place is going to be packed! Dh isnt in town, otherwise, I would've went with him.

You don't have to be religious to enjoy what he is saying. I watch him sometimes on Sundays and am reading his book. He speaks a lot about how to live life to the fullest, etc. I was thinking of going myself. If you do go, enjoy!

I never heard of him until just this past sunday DH put him on. He is really good. He throws some religion in there here and there but overall is more about getting the most out of your life. I would go, cant hurt. You cna block the religious stuff out LOL

That is exactly what I do when I watch him. I block all that out and concentrate on his way of thinking and motivation, etc.

If you saw the show I caught where he preached about how one's wife should make an effort to be pretty and stay 'fresh and young looking' so that when the husband comes home he has a pleasing image in front of him...then you'd prob rethink it!
I was thoroughly disgusted. I had been flipping through the tv stations and listened to a few minutes of what he said which started off good...but the whole 'look pretty for your hard working husband' thing totally turned me off to him.

i would definitely go!!! and like many people have said, his sermons are not really religiously based, but more self-help based.
