Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
bankruptcies are slow processes! they have to go through the court - anything dealing with the court takes a long time, and a 6 month court process is a very quick one. keep this in mind!!! remember what was already posted - ch. 11 is reorganization, not liquidation. K-Mart filed bankruptcy over a year ago and they're still doing business!

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
Thank you! Angelo was a doll. He also did some other nice things for me if I stayed, he made me teh only bride (beacsue I have almost 270 people coming) and he let us have teh lounge for hospitality for 1/2 an hour. And then he added that if I wanted, I could have the deposit back. He understood my concerns as well and said it's a family fight, this should all blow over. I am waiting for now. I will think about it over teh weekend.

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
oh girls...I am as confused as you...but unfortunately (don't hate me) i think we decided we are going to pull out. I cannot imagine worrying for the next 9 months that the Sherriff of Suffolk County will come and padlock their doors b/c they didn't make 2 mortgage payments! I know, I may be exaggerating, but as did others I ran this by a lawyer. I am so distraught over this! Tonight we are making our pros and cons list (over drinks, of course) and making the REAL final decision. But then, what next? Start looking for another place...I had my Mom go check out places yesterday (I'm in Rochester) and she gave me some feedback. My BM's are going looking for me too...DAMN IT! I already did all this in 2002!!!! So, I might be getting in the car tonight and driving down to Long Island to check these places out myself...I just want JA's and I want no what if's....I'm sorry girls...getting upset again. Anyone FM me if you want to talk or let me know your thoughts...thanks

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
Ladies, this is such a tough decision for all of you! This is just my opinion, planning a wedding is so stressful, but it should be a happy time too. If you will be worrying all along the way that your special day may be compromised in any way, due to this C11 thing, then you should find another place. You want to enjoy your engagement, not worry that the place of your dreams may not turn out the way you want. I would be so nervous to stay. But again, I worry TOO much typically and this is just my opinion.
Best of luck ladies!

Cynthia,
I can completely relate. I am actually going to start looking for other places myself and then try to make a decision as quickly as possible on what to do with this situation.
P.S. I sent you forum mail.

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
After a long and stressful weekend, I have decided to stay at JA's. I have 6 months to go, and up until November, I can always change my mind. Thay are still booking weddings, so I feel a little more comfortable....

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
Girls, although I know you are probably stressing out over this. I have to agree and say it is a long process. If everyone keeps pulling out that is what will make them go bankrupt. It is such a beautiful place and I am sure if this were to happen someone would buy it before it could even go into bankruptcy and go to new ownership.

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
Just wanted to offer
I am sorry that you are all going through this. I hope you all are able to come to a decision whether or not you stay there or not.
I wouldn't worry about weddings this year, next year might be a different story. I hope everyone is able to find a replacement, I know for my wedding date many places are booked and I would be royally screwed if I had to find another place. Good luck to all you ladies, I will be praying for you!

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
We have decided to stay at JAs. I'm not worried about them closing anymore because I don't think that they will....and if they do we'll just have to deal with it when the time comes.

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
I am glad that you feel confident about it. I am still undecided on what to do although I am leaning a lot more towards cancelling.
Any JA brides make a decision over the weekend? Any of you talk to JA's this past weekend??

Re: John Anthonys - Bankrupt?????
I am definately staying, however CB, FT, NRC, Fox HOllow and Bridgeview all matched my price and have my date available.
I think I'll be ok. And liek I said before, they will have no reason to stay open if we all start cancelling.
