So our wedding is August 31. We have already received a few checks from people that can't attend but some are signed Mr. And Mrs. With my fh last name. Since I don't have his last name yet are we able to do a joint account and they can be deposited or we have to wait until we receive the official marriage license after the wedding?

We aren't married yet but going to open a joint account this morning for apt expenses. Also I believe you can just site for deposit only on the back of them and be fine.

I think you can deposit them.

I'm sure the bank wouldn't give you a problem depositing it into his account, since it already has his name on it.

Re: joint bank account
Double check with your bank but I'm pretty sure he needs to sign it and then you need to sign it twice (married and maiden) name. You then might be able to deposit it but it won't be in a joint account with your married name.

To open an account you'll need 2 forms of ID. They should match the names on the account.

We received checks for our wedding with Mr. and Mrs. We were not able to open a joint account till we received the marriage license because the names had to match our ID.

FH and I opened a joint bank account with Bank of America to deposit all the money we were saving for the wedding. You don't have to have the same last name or even be living together.

Fh & I have had a joint bank account forever and we aren't married yet. As long as you show your ID that matches the name you are putting on the account, you won't have an issue. Once you get married you just have to update the information on the account with your married name. HTH
