July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Hi all. Well, I've successfully put off doing much of anything wedding-related since the summer, and my job and classes have been so busy this semester (the reason I haven't been around on these boards) that I am trying to hold out on doing much else until around January, or at least the holidays. Do you guys think I am crazy? Here is what we've done so far:

-Picked date (7/6/03)
-Booked place for reception (Land's End)
-Booked church (Christ the King Commack...which I am discovering now may have been a HUGE mistake (see my earlier post))
-Selected bridal party
-Bought my dress
-Selected and ordered BM dresses
-Booked band (Route 66)
-Booked photographer/video (Imagine)
-Booked florist (Flower Michele)
-Started pre-Cana down here in Virginia/did Engaged Encounter weekend (what a pain!)
-Booked one of our room blocks

I feel like we're mostly in decent shape, but I'm starting to get worried now that we're less than 9 months out. I can't believe how quickly time flew. It feels like we just got engaged and were saying 'we don't have to worry, we've got 2 years!'

Anyway, I'd love to hear where all the other July brides are in the process....

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Let's see...I've booked the following for my 7/4/03 wedding:

Hall - Woodbury Country Club
Photographer - Glenmar Studio
Videographer - Wild Rose
Dress - purchased wedding gown, tiara & shoes
Bridesmaids - purchased & ordered their dresses
Florist - Flowers by Matthew
Church - St William the Abbot
Makeup - Jacqueline Nicole
Honeymoon - Southern Caribbean Cruise

I still need to book limos and order invitations and favors. I'm currently making the wedding programs. I also need to buy my veil. The moms need to order their dresses and the men need to order their tuxes. I also have to find a hairdresser that will come to my home to do updo's for me, my bms and my mom.

I think that's it. I feel like there's so much to do!

I am getting married July 12, 2003. I can't believe it is only nine months away! And from what everyone says, the time flies.

Booked reception hall (Sunset Harbour)

Booked limos/party bus
Will be doing pre-cana in November (are doing an engagement encounter here in Boston)

The next big items on my list are the florist and the bridesmaid's dresses.

Wow, I seem to be behind on some things. Is sending out Save-the-Dates in November pretty standard? My parents wanted them to go out at the end of this summer ( ) but I was thinking of waiting until Jan or Feb... advice??

July5bride...I was also thinking of doing wine bottle favors! Where are you getting them?

To all the Catholic brides...have you run into trouble with choosing the music you want at your church? I'm finding that what we originally thought about having one of my friends sing something may not, in fact, be true (we might have to go with someone the church picks...and their song selection!).

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

I also thought of sending out my save the date cards this past summer but then I thought people would misplace them, especially because the wedding is in Montauk and hotels don't start booking until January. I figured November is good because it gives people enough time to plan and it is before the 'christmas mail'. As for the wine bottle favors, I am geting the bottles from Duckwalk Vineyards in Southampton. They have tons of different kinds but I am getting one called Southampton White that me and my FH fell in love with this past summer. They give 25% off and wrap them for you.

Re: wine favors

Wow, are you getting whole bottles or half? What we really want to do is do wine bottles as both favors AND placecards. But we were thinking half bottles. Are you getting custom labels too? I love Duckwalk...the Windmill White is a nice summer wine too. (I'm generally partial to reds, but that one is so refreshing in the warm weather). Do you know if they would do custom labels for the wedding and then allow space on the bottle for us to attach our own printed labels for the guests' table numbers? Do you mind my asking how much you are paying, with the 25% discount? Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] or via forum mail, if you prefer. I'll send a copy of this message there, too.

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Wow! For those who feel that they are behind, this message will make you feel better because I have hardly done ANYTHING!

This is what I have so far for a July 5 afternoon wedding:
Booked hall - Swan Club
booked ceremony place - Swan Club (pretty easy, huh?)

That's it! My FMIL is calling hotels for out-of-town guests. I will look at bridal gowns next week. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get to LI because I don't have a car (I live in Queens) and my mother is taking care of my terminally-ill grandmother, so as you can see, it has not been easy planning this wedding. Strangely enough, I am not very stressed at my lack of planning. It will all come together soon. I plan of booking photographers, music, florist, and rabbi/minister in the next 4-6 weeks.

I am so behind!

Hall - Hamlet Wind Watch
Church - St. Margaret of Scotland
Photos - Laurie Studio
Video - Wild Rose
Dress - Private Label
BM Dresses - picked out, need to order, think we can get a better price in MD
DJ - In the Mood DJs
Bought candle holders for placecards
Almost picked out Readings

I am hoping to bang out Florist and limo when I am in LI in two weeks. Does anyone know if florists will meet with me on a Sunday?

Hi Allison! I haven't spoken to you in a while. Things have been crazy out here in San Diego, but I have managed to do the following:

Booked hall: Watermill July 4
Bought dress, headpiece and veil.
picked out BM dresses, need to order
Booked photographer: Patken
Booked dj: Invitation to Dance
Booked florist: Flowers by rosemarie
Bought favors: Crystal rose bud votive holders
found who will do my hair and makeup
In the process of booking honeymoon right now.
Made templates for programs, menus, and welcome letters.
Made and sent out Save the dates last week.
Registered at Fortunoffs, Macy's and Crate&Barrel.
Booked Priest.
I think that is about it...

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Hello my fellow July 12th brides

I am sure time will fly. I have been engaged since Christmas. I tried to get the majority of the details completed before September, since I am a teacher. Here are the details.

Date: July 12
Reception: Watermill
DJ: Spin around Sound
Photography: VIP Studio
I got dress and the dress is already in!

I still need to work on the bridesmaid’s dresses and the rest of the details.

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

One more detail - I just graduated from Pre-Cana this past Tuesday. It wasn't that bad. I actually enjoyed the whole process. One more thing to check off the list.

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

I am not sure what I should do next. Here is what's done:

Date: July 5
Ceremony/Reception: The Tides, NJ
Band: Freilehs
Dress ordered, but David's received a wrong style, so I may have to wait a while still
Shoes are bought, but still not sure if I'll keep them
Bridal party is picked, but they still have to order their dresses
Invitations are picked but not ordered yet
Photo and Video - Imagine Studios
Hair person is found - Rita, in NJ
Rabbi found - Rabbi Burt Siegel

My things on to do list have florist as next and room blocking, finalize invite wording and order them, order BM dresses.

I won't have limos, or rehearsal dinner.

What am I missing? I feel like I should be doing a lot of stuff, but I am braindead for some reason as to what it should be. All I wanna do is look for shoes and hair pins

Thanks girls.
