July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Original post by AlisonMT

Hi all. Well, I've successfully put off doing much of anything wedding-related since the summer, and my job and classes have been so busy this semester (the reason I haven't been around on these boards) that I am trying to hold out on doing much else until around January, or at least the holidays. Do you guys think I am crazy? Here is what we've done so far:

-Picked date (7/6/03)
-Booked place for reception (Land's End)
-Booked church (Christ the King Commack...which I am discovering now may have been a HUGE mistake (see my earlier post))
-Selected bridal party
-Bought my dress
-Selected and ordered BM dresses
-Booked band (Route 66)
-Booked photographer/video (Imagine)
-Booked florist (Flower Michele)
-Started pre-Cana down here in Virginia/did Engaged Encounter weekend (what a pain!)
-Booked one of our room blocks

I feel like we're mostly in decent shape, but I'm starting to get worried now that we're less than 9 months out. I can't believe how quickly time flew. It feels like we just got engaged and were saying 'we don't have to worry, we've got 2 years!'

Anyway, I'd love to hear where all the other July brides are in the process....

NLP...I'm taking a break, too! Hope I can re-start in January without falling TOO far behind.

alina...Didn't you just love Imagine's work? We were worried they were too expensive, but we think it's $$ well spent.

Karen! (aka julykbride) How the heck are ya?! It's so good to hear from you. And I can't believe how much you've gotten done out there. I'm impressed. Drop an email when you get a chance. I'd love to catch up more.

Since my last posting on this topic about a month ago, I have booked my photographer. I think I will book my videographer next week and I'm going back to the bridal salon to show my mom a dress that I liked a lot and may buy it then. It seems I'm going very slowly. Hopefully, by Thanksgiving, I'll have my dress picked and a rabbi selected.

I am July 3rd. I have booked:

Hall-Giorgio's at Fox Hill
Ceremony-Giorgio's (that was easy)
Cantor and Priest booked
Ordered my gown and got tiara
Ordered BM dresses
Photo/Video-Spelman
Band-Timepiece

Still have to do flowers, hair/make-up, shoes, veil invitations, save the date cards. I'll send those out around the holidays. Since moving to Chicago, it's beenm a lot harder to plan! Time is flying!! Oh and we really need to take dance lessons.

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

Since my last post on this topic I did purchase:

my veil (off eBay)
pew bows (off eBay)
florist - Flowers by Matthew

I am still on the hunt for limos and a hairdresser. In January, I will look for invitations and favors, unless something catches my eye beforehand.

My mom started looking for her dress and found a couple she really loves.

I've been so busy with work lately, that I haven't been doing much wedding-wise lately. I've actually been kind of down and haven't even come on here as much as I used to. I guess I just hit a lull or something.

Once I book a limo, I will feel better. Everytime I make an appointment, it rains! I wonder if that's a sign?

Our wedding is July 3. We've done a lot.

We sent our STD's in August to give the out of town guests lots of time to make arrangements to come if they want because it's a holiday weekend.

We've Booked:

Church
Hall - Jericho Terrace
Limo - Royalty Limos
Photographer & Video - Patken
My Dress - Alfred Angelo
Picked Bridal Party
BM Dresses ordered this weekend
DJ - Maximum Entertainment
Wedding Bands

Florist (not yet booked, but we know who we're using)

Not done
Tux's
Invites
Favors
Hair & Makeup (although I think I know who I want)

Re: July 2003 brides: what have you done so far?

There's a July thread? Where have I been?

Things I have completed for July 18:

Reception Hall - The Meadow Club
Dress - Mori Lee from Paradise Bridal
Veil and headpiece - also Paradise Bridal
Photographer - Steve from Patken
Video - Classic Video
DJ - Big Hits Entertainment
Florist - Malkmes (recommended by hall)
Limos - All Starr
Invitations - LA Productions
I'm now hunting down a pair of shoes from the sexy shoe thread, but no luck yet. And I plan on calling to block off hotel rooms this week.
And that's it, I think.

Edited to add that I also ordered my bridesmaid dresses have a church and a minister to marry us, registered and booked my hair and makeup - Self Image Salon for hair and the wonderful Jacqueline Nicole for makeup.

You go girl, very funny! I made some progress since my last July 2003 post. I found my bridemaids dresses. I went to the Wedding Center in Commack. I hope everything works out with the wedding center.

I also tried on my wedding dress this afternoon. The dress arrived at the store in September and I just tried on the dress today to make sure everything looked ok.

And the honeymoon - Italy for 12 days!

There are still many more things to do, as my mom so kindly makes me aware of the fact every day!

sonia - I was sick of the planning thing a LONG time ago! I love talking about the wedding and the plans, and posting on here about them but when it comes to actually doing things and going places, it gets so overwhelming!
