I'm meeting w/ Paul from Stefan's in a few weeks. Any feedback? What kind of 'extras' do they throw in? Are there any other florists I should check out?I really don't feel like shopping for a florist, and they are the house florist at the Carlyle. After looking at around 30 wedding gowns I'm wiped! The good news is I found the perfect dress, veil, and headpiece! Thanks for your help. Continued success!

They don't throw in much except maybe flowers for passing, throw away, and boutenaires. We met with Neil and he worked within our budget. He gave us a final figure. We told him it was above our budget so he made a special package and lowered it by about $150 to fit within our budget. You can also check out Mastors in Rockville Centere. I met with Mike there and he is great. If you need the number I can send it. We are still undecided between the 2 forists.

Stefans - (egreen)
May I ask what a reasonable budget was for Stefans? I don't want to walk in with a number that's much higher than what he can work with. (ie, I don't want to say that my budget is say $5,000 if he can do what I want for $3000) Flowers is where I hope to save some $ b/c I plan to use mostly candles. I also might use the temple's chuppa and just have it lightly adorned with flowers - so that should save us a bundle. As I mentioned, I'm seeing them tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted! Thanks!

Stefans -
I first went to Flowers by Brian (I would of used them) but went with Stef. b/c they are the house florist...) Plus they came in less and gave me more. Flowers by Brian I could tell (WILL do a great job) I met with Brian and he was a little pushy - I was telling him I don't want a huge boquet (and he was telling me I was going to pay $150 either way) but anyway I then went to Stef. I met with Josh (and then the owner who is really crazy) but he threw in stuff for us (at the end) b/c of the Carlyle - At my meeting with Josh - he helped with what we would need and I told him what i wanted - at the end he said he could do it for $2500 - I said it's a little more then what we wanted he said how much do you want to spend we said $2000 - he said done- With tax it came to around 2150 - anyway - I had about 24 - 28 roses in bubble vases on 20 tables (1 floating rose in a small vase) for cocktail hour) a huge centerpiece on my table (that we never even spoke about) I guess they just included this) I was pleasantly suprised! (My cake, flowers around for the serving dishes during cocktail hour) my bouquet had about 40 roses - I had four girls (small bouquet (around 12-15 roses) and the usual corsages and bout. I guess around 8 of each. and rose petals to throw - I thought they were great!!! I went to a small florist in Baldwin just to make sure of the price (and they came in at $2800) But like I said I would look at Flowers by Brian too. They let you see the flowes the day before which I liked - they are also a smaller shop.

Stefans - WOW!!
That's very reasonable compared to what my coordinator at my hall told me. My catering hall is Shelter Rock Jewish Center, and Stefans is one of 3 house florists (and we HAVE to choose from the 3 house florists). My coordinator basically said that we should plan to spend at least $5000-$7000 on flowers (which I of course thought was ridiculous)- but i guess that includes an elaborate chuppa, which i don't want anyway. I'll be sooo psyched if i can get away with so much less! Thanks for the info! I'll let you know by monday! we'r also seeing Atlas Florist on Sunday.

My experience with Stefan's
I used Stefan's (Josh & then Neil) for my wedding and they were great. I feel totally comfortable recommending them and they weren't my places house florist. I found them to be very accommodating and respectful of your budget and I couldn't have been happier with EVERYTHING on my wedding day. Neil even came with the crew to make sure it was all set up properly which I wasn't expecting. If you have any questions about them feel free to ask me.Welcome New Vendors
