Just a plethora of questions today...When is the latest...

I should do my nails?

I planned on doing my nails on Friday, day before. I'm going to do them myself, I won't get them done in a salon because it skeeves me out. Going to cut, file, buff, lotion, push cuticles, the whole nine yards, I have all the proper tools. But I'm going to have my sister paint them for me so I don't do it gloppy or uneven. I'm wearing Vamp by Chanel so it's a really super dark burgundy, and will probably do the clear top coat just to make sure.

So my sister said she was going to do them for me, but she works on Friday nights, and she's not off the day before the wedding. She leaves for work by 4:00, and depending on when the last table leaves, doesn't come home until 10:30 usually. I had planned on being in bed by like 9:00 the latest LOL, because I'm a disaster when I'm tired...but do you think it'll also be a disaster to have my nails done at like 3:00, especially given it's not a pro job and it's such a dark color that if it chips, will show?

I did my nails the day before like around 12pm and they were perfect the day after and i had french tips so i think you should be fine.

why don;t you do your nails yourself, but go to nail salon to just put the polish. they should charge you something very minimal for that.

I got my nails done on Wed before the wedding and they were fine.

That should be fine. I got mine done the day before around 2ish and they were still perfect the next day..and if anything happens she can quickly touch it up in the AM

i dd mine the night b4...i got tips,the permanet french so the paint would not chip

I know you said the nail salon grosses you out, but what if you brought your own tools. I am just worried about it looking perfect for you especially b/c it is such a dark color. I had my nails done the day before, I think around 1pm. It should be a problem to get them done around 3pm.

ITA! Bring your own stuff and get them done at a slaon! Or like someone else said, atleast get them painted there.

I dont think it will be anymore then $5-$10

I did mine two days before (Wednesday morning) and they were fine!

I did my pedi a few days before and it stayed perfect. I did my nails the day before but I had so much to do that I was sooooo stressed out, I wish I'd done it sooner because it didn't look perfect the day of anyway.

But my question is now, when you are all saying had them done, you mean professionally in a salon, right? Did anyone do their own nails, or have a friend/BM/Sister etc. do them for you, unprofessionally, at home?

The salon I go to that my sister's friend works at doesn't offer nail services, and the other salon I go to which does offer nail services is mad expensive, and just straight out nail salons I don't know who are good in my area. Are there any cheap/clean places in the St. James/Smithtown/Nesconset area that anyone can recommend?

I dont think it will be anymore then $5-$10

Yep usually its a polish change price, at my place is $7

i think 3pm is good. You don't want to do them too late in the day either bc you want to avoid sheet marks esp if you're going to bed early

I got my mani the day before the wedding. I got the french mani done for 12 bucks at my place.

And bring your own kit so they do it for you. You should be treated and not have to do it yourself.

I am skeeved out by salons because my Aunt got hepatitis from the salon. So, I have my OWN kit with ALL the tools so they don't use their own.

I totally agree with you going to just get the polish done the day before ESPECIALLY since you're wearing a dark color. I feel like when you make little smudges on light colors you can't tell but dark shows all the little imperfections. Totally worth the $5-$10 to know they'll look stellar on your big day
