we are doing assigned seats as well but boy do I dread the day that I have to do my seat assignments.

Definitely having assigned seats. I've never been to a wedding that didn't have them, I guess if it's really casual that would work. But I like knowing where I'm supposed to sit when I go to a wedding! I'd feel weird having to choose my own seat.

assigned seating is the way to go, unless you're having a VERY informal, VERY small wedding

Assignments are necessary. Just think about what happens during cocktail hour when there AREN'T assigned seats!

Absolutely have assigned seating! Honestly after a friends shower, I would suggest having assigned seating at any big party over 50! It will make things a lot easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a very large wedding (309 people) and assigned seating is the way to going. It takes a while to get it together, but it's so worth it.

we did not have assigned seating because we wanted a cocktail party feel. it worked out very nicely. 130 people with about 90 seats.

Been to a few weddings w/o assigned seating,...it's horrible everyone walking around trying to find spaces or saving spaces for particular people---please have assignd seating--so much easier for guests.

Yes, and we are having buffet style, but when it comes time to make toast or just SO people can put their things down and know where they did LOL.

I am thinking of not having assigned seating. However, reserved one for families and enough seating for everyone plus lounge furniture through out.
