Not that it justifies it, but I think it sounds like your dad meant marrying into FH's FAMILY is a bad idea, not necessarily marrying FH

you know what, you love him & he loves you and that's all that matters.

I dated a guy once (not FH) that my dad absolutely loved but he was a jerk. Fathers don't always know best b/c they don't always know the whole story.
