Re: just engaged need help

I am really surprised the sand castle isn't doing it. Maybe its one of their new requirements for 2009 since they are renevating and doing 1 wedding a day. I am getting married there this year and I am only inviting 150, minimum of 120 for the skylight room.

Good luck and congrats!

ditto Im surprised also. Maybe you can try working something out with them. they were nice enough to lower their minimum for us when we spoke with them again to tell them we were interested in booking with them.

My guarantee is 125 and I'm at Chateau Briand in a room that can hold up to 200, and I got a Saturday night on a holiday weekend, so they were very flexible! They even lowered the guarantee they originally wanted, which was 140 or 150 -- so you're fine there, and it's a great place (same owners as Fox Hollow and WM). Frank is my BM and he's great, very experienced, we love him. Good luck!

You may want to look into Leonards of Great Neck and Caffe on the Green in Bayside, Queens

are you only looking in Nassau Co? If not, there are lots of places in Suffolk that could accommodate you.

i'm not sure why Westbury Manor & WCC told you that you had too few people. when we were looking at RH's we also have 150 min. and Westbury Manor said we could have the downstairs. we ending up booking with WCC and are getting the outside CH with the downstairs room.

i booked at Fox Hollow with a 125 minimum, i liked the bigger room too but in order to get it, i had to have a saturday afternoon wedding, which was not a big deal for me... i love the room and the outside garden for CH so i booked it!

so if you are willing to be flexible with the time of your reception, you could probably get bigger rooms at the venues you are looking at

Congratulations on your engagement!!!

We're getting married at Fox Hollow, ceremony in the Lantern Garden room, and reception in the Winter Garden. We had to guarantee 100.

My sister got married 4 yrs ago at Crest Hollow (ceremony & reception too) don't know what their exact guarantee was, but the room was beautiful and the food was fantastic!

I'm so surprised to hear that Westbury Manor says 150 is not enough people. They have a room upstairs that holds about 90 so why wouldn't they show you that? we looked for Sunday evening with a guarantee of only 60 and found several places.

We finally decided on Larkfield Manor and had a woinderful night. the small room holds up tp about 120 and I'm not sure what they require for their large room but I would definitely check.

George Washingtom Manor had 75 min
Harbor Club,Irish Coffee Pub, Capt Bill's had small mins too.

try those if Larkfield doesn't work out.

We had less than 100 people in the Presidential Room of the George Washington Manor. We had lots of room...

no one ever mentions this place, but the Metropolitan in Glenn Cove is really nice too!

Try the Riviera. It is in Massapequa on the water. We invited 165 and have a minimum of 110. They also have an outdoor cocktail hour and only do 1 wedding at a time. If you have any guestions about this place let me know.

Good Luck!

Try where I am having mine, Thatched cottage in centerport. Our minimum is 125 there and they have an outside area for your cocktail hour (its actually set up half indoors half out doors with a indoor and outdoor bar) and their reception room holds anywhere from 100- 200 I believe. I know I originally said I was going to have 100 people and they were going to give us their big room, so I dont think you would have a problem with that. It is also one wedding at a time. Best of luck!!! And congrats on your recent engagement!!!

ETA: Oh and its right on the water.

Caffe on the Green's food is fantastic - we've been there just for dinner many times.
And definitely make sure with WM if you really liked them. They might have another room you could use. We're only having about 80 ppl and that was no problem for a Saturday afternoon.

BTW, Congratulations! Good luck with the planning!

Millerige Cottage has 150 min and the room is huge, Crest Hollow should be able to accomodate that, I just went to a wedding at woodbury country club that probably had around 165 and they used the outside so I'm not sure.

Good luck!
