by Anita Diamant and it was sooooooooooooo good - I had to go to the bookstore and buy my own copy! Anyone read it and have suggestions for similar books?

I just finished it too...very good story. Too bad the author doesnt usually write novels, i would probably buy her other books.

Re: Just finished The Red Tent
One of my most favorite books - absolutely loved the story...made me want my own 'red tent'!
Memoirs of a Geisha (S. Golden) is also a phenomenally written story... Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (G. Maguire) is another of my most favorite stories.

Re: Just finished The Red Tent
Lisa, the friend who recommended the book to me a few years ago...her & I were hellbent on creating a 'red tent' for ourselves and all the beloved women in our lives.
It was more a pipe dream than anything...but I plan on incorporating the idea of one, when (if) I have a daughter. I will probably do it with my FHs niece - who I just adore - cause FSIL absolutely HATES anything to do with menses. Which I think is just plain weird.

I dont understand how woman now a days are so grossed out by our mensus. Im not saying that I do a dance, but I thank my body each month for doing what its supposed to do. Maybe that sounds wierd but then again, that is what makes the world go round!!

LOVE this book. The author did write another book, Good Harbor, and it is a good easy read but nothing near as good as The Red Tent.

Re: Just finished The Red Tent
Definitely one of my favorite books ever. I couldn't put it down when I read it a few years ago. I wouldn't mind reading it again now.
