Can you believe it? All guests from New Jersey, Staten Island, and Manhattan will be seriously stuck in traffic. The bridges and tunnels will be closed all morning. My hall (Chateau Briand) will only push the wedding up 1/2 hour (to 12:30), or I can push the wedding forward one week, or back one week. Problem is, I already have most of my vendors, and they are booked on the other days. I feel like I couldn't even change the date if I wanted to now because its bad luck. My FH says it won't be so bad, people will just have to leave an hour earlier than they would have to compensate. He says that it doesn't affect my day at all, and I shouldn't worry.

Do you guys think it will be okay?

Just be sure to let everyone know so they can leave the appropriate amount of time...whatever that may be. You might want to consider blocking rooms off somewhere in case people would rather spend the night before rather than sit in traffic.

Breath Tara..

Okay. So you should make sure that you have an insert in your invite explaining the situation with alternate directions. Push the wedding to 12:30, which will help give you some extra time. And I think the hotel suggestion is a really good one. That way close family and friends can stay over the night before an avoid the traffic. Moving all of your vendors around will prove very difficult, as you know. So people just have to leave a bit earlier that's all.

The NYC marathon is Sunday, November 3rd. My wedding is on the 2nd, and at first we freaked out. Tarralissa, don't worry. The other suggestions were very good. As long as people know ahead of time they will make the necessary arrangements. I wouldn't change the day of your wedding. There will always be something!! Good Luck

check the closure times

I don't think they close the verazzano for very long and then after that it is all local roads (very easy to get around it - unless you are on the upper east side)

find out about road and bridge closings and then just create an insert expalining the best roads (prob GW Bridge)...i see no problems...
