How long was your engagement?? Or should I say how far in advance did you book your venue?
We just got engaged and I was shooting for a summer/fall 2006 wedding and a lot of good venues are booked til summer 2007 already. =(

We got engaged in Feb and were married 9 months later. We booked our hall two weeks after we got engaged. I knew already where I wanted to get married

same here! we didn't want to wait any longer and honestly, it was plenty of time for me!

We didnt book our hall until 10 month from the wedding date, and that's because I did alot of shopping around-I saw about 17 Recption halls. Be open minded!

We were engaged in 7/04 and wanted a fall wedding. It was impossible for us to come up with THOUSANDS of dollars within a couple of months so we knew it would have to be 10/30/05! We booked our reception hall the same week we got engaged.

By my wedding date I will be engaged 1 month shy of two years... but we did this so we can save and pay cash for our vendors. I booked my hall, (FH's choice) like 2 weeks atfer i got engaged.

We got engaged on April 29, 2005, started really planning around June/July 2005, and had our wedding November 5, 2005! If you are flexible with places and dates ,you can definatly plan on short notice

I was engaged Jan 2005 and I found my place in April 2005 for June 2006. I am a big procrastinator so I needed the extra time.

We have been engaged since June of 2004. We booked the hall in November of 2004. I would look into booking your hall real soon for a Summer/ fall 06 wedding. It is the most popular time to get married. Plus, June is only 6 months away.

Booked 1 year and 1/2 in advance....Mainly because I wanted the summer and my best friend was already getting married in July '05. I think 7-8 months is ok and definetely do able.
Have you started looked in reception places yet?? Any that you like??

congrats! we got engaged on Christmas eve '04, started our hall search right after new years, and booked our hall in the last week of january. we could have gotten married this fall but FH really wanted warm weather. not only that, but since we will be engaged 1 1/2 years we had more time to pay for everything. maybe it's a blessing in disguise that you wait until '07. then you won't feel overwhelmed with $.

We got engaged in March 2005 and we're getting married Sept. 2, 2006. We were actually originally shooting to have a May wedding but September ended up working out better for us in the end.
