Hi! I just wanted to say hello. This website is the best. I am planning my '07 wedding from VA and it is sooooo hard, but liweddings.com makes it so easy to do research. I will probably need advice on handling out of town guests (hotels, traveling, etc), especially with the possibility of having a holiday weekend wedding, so if anyone has any advice, please let me know!!

Thank you all for your well wishes. There are so many factors that come in to play. What date? Is there a hotel nearby? Can the accomodate a ceremony on site? I think my stress level will go down significantly once I book the reception site. Looking for a place on the water, this is a mandatory requirement for me. So far Lands End and River View at Cap. Bills are my top choices. Unfortunately my FH when I told him how much each place is per person. I told him I am willing to make sacrafices to have my dream wedding, but he is still a bit skeptical (knowing how much I love to shop). It is true what they say, that weddings on Long Island bear no $$$ comparison to anywhere else!

Welcome and congratulations - if you do a search of reception halls on the water there are a lot - Have you looked at Old Field Club? I loved it there. My advice, you CAN'T please everyone, no matter how hard you try, so just try to make yourself and your FH happy

Welcome! I think I once heard that on average a LI wedding is more expensive than a wedding anywhere else (excluding of course those gals all over the US that have 'platinum' weddings'.) My best friend lives in Fla. and weddings there are TOTALLY different! Its amazing...Her husband is floored by what things cost here.

I think I got a bit off topic there-- what I meant to say is Welcome and that 40,000 isn't over the top for a LI wedding-- although you can have one for less--just depends on what you want and how many you invite.
