Just got engaged....and am addicted to this site already!

Hi! I just wanted to say hello. This website is the best. I am planning my '07 wedding from VA and it is sooooo hard, but liweddings.com makes it so easy to do research. I will probably need advice on handling out of town guests (hotels, traveling, etc), especially with the possibility of having a holiday weekend wedding, so if anyone has any advice, please let me know!!

I am planning on having the wedding in NY. My FH thinks it is asking a little much of our friends to have them travel to NY for a holiday weekend wedding. He is a little more frugal than I am (okay, I actually am not at all). He also thinks that $40K for a wedding is too much, even with my parents assistance.

CONGRATS!! I am planning my wedding from NJ, certainly not as far as where you are planning from, but I have also found this site to be more of a help than I can express! I don't know how other brides plan weddings without a helpful site like this!! Happy Planning!

Welcome and congratulations! Where are you in VA. There are a bunch of DC area girls on this board. I live Bethesda right now, but we're getting married on Long Island. It kind of stinks planning from far away, but if you plan and you're organized then it isn't so bad.

40K is not necessarily too much for a wedding....but I think it depends on how many guests your having, what time of year, what day of the week, etc.
