I've been looking online at homes in Virginia in my Mom's town. It makes me sick when I see how much houses are in NY compared to other places.
1st home is $148,000 2nd home is $199,000 3rd home is $264,000 4th home is $399,000
There are tons of houses in eery price rance from $100,000 all the way to $1million. I wish DH would agree to sell our home here and move!

Wow - those houses are great. My 2 bedroom townhouse here could get me a huge gorgeous house there. Oh well...one day.

Your link is not completely accurate- can't believe everything you read online. If you can work remotely, like many people can, then it doesn't matter where you live and you make the same salary b/c you have the same job.

Wow that crazy!!!! I'm almost sure that my son will not be to buy a home in NY when it's time for him to marry. It's not only the home prices, but the taxes in NY are so freakin out of control.

What are taxes up to? My in-law's told me a few years ago that they paid 17k per year..have they been increasing a lot each year?

that's why we have to move out of ny. We're looking in VA, and in our job fields, the pay is about the same in VA area as it would be here in ny. We'd probably work in DC. Also the taxes are lower there.
