I told her that I heard of this band called breaking point, and if she heard of them. I already spoke with them on the phone I asked her opinion. They gave me a price quote over the phone (approx). then I called her she called them up and spoke to them. They called me back for a meet with them and told me since I was using my planner and they knew her I was going to get $750 off for using her name. WOW $750 in my pocket she's amazing. She told me that she will get me money off on all the vendors I book. I'm on cloud 9

Yes, planners can save you money and I think it's remarkable that in the span of two days, since your first post here, you have gone from needing help with booking 'all vendors' to having almost every vendor booked for your 2006 wedding. All thanks to your 'planner'. Wow...everyone should be so lucky.

Yeah I'm really excited, I still have to look for my dress but I still have about 28 more lbs to loose. I also have to look for invitations and still have to meet with the band, it's not officislly booked yet, either is the limo and I still have to decide if we want video, still havn't even started to think about gowns for the bridesmaids I figure I'll wait till I get mine then start with them, florist is still pending. I'd like to do my own make up because I like the way I do it myself, in the past I've tried to have a professional do it and I came home and took it all off, just not me. My sister is a hairdresser and she'll do mine and the rest of the B Party, so I don't even have to search that.

Well one thing to keep in mind about planners is that they may have connections with some vendors, but they get paid by the vendor so you may also be paying a premium over what they usually charge to begin with.
ETA: I met with a planner who charged nothing but all the vendoes she referred me to kicked back to her. I ended up paying either way and I would have never known how much she actually cost me.

Nope, it usually means there was something going on with the vendor in the past and their name is blocked for legal reasons.

when I spoke with the band they told me approx $7,500 for a 12 piece band. Then I spoke to her she called them and the price went down $750.

Nope that's not why. Many vendors don't advertise on LIW and you can still write their name. Like Twelfth Night Photogrpahy, for example.
Names are usually blocked off if the vendors request it or if there are legal issues...neither are good signs unfortunately.

That's what I thought too. I know there arent many vendors that are blocked off, but this is the first time I've seen a BP/DOC blocked. Instead of worrying yourself, why dont you just call her and ask. Better to hear it from her than getting the wrong info from someone else
