We have (I think) decided that since we are not leaving on a honeymoon until 4 days after our sat. night wedding we will just go back to my fh's house to sleep that night. I know in previous posts I was stressing whether we should stay in a hotel that night or not. At this point even 300 dollars for a wedding night hotel room is not going to make a difference since we are way over budget anyway!!! But our reception will be over at 1 and by the time we actually leave the reception hall it will be after 2 pm. My fh will do whatever I want and says it is fine if we go back to our home or stay out. If we stay out we have to go home anyway around 11 am on Sunday morning since we would put our dog at the vet overnight and the vet only allows pick up on sunday at 11:00 and we don't want to leave her for more than a day since she will be there for over 11 days for our honeymoon. I just don't want to regret years from now saying that I did not have the first night at a hotel. I don't think it is a big deal but I am not sure how I will feel about it at the time. What are you feelings??? Thanks again!!

Or you can save the 300 for a stay in a special hotel after the honeymoon to prolong the honeymoon a bit longer! We stayed at the Huntington Hilton the night of the wedding which by the way we were so exhausetd we just 'slept' in but we booked a 450 suite at the Waldorf after the honeymoon and it was so worth every penny to enjoy one last bit of luxury before reality sets in which it does! I enjoyed that far more than the nite at the Hilton!

We stayed with all our guests/friends at the hotel after because our shuttle dropped us off there. We were able to have a little after party with them. Honestly, my husband said he would have rather come home to sleep in our own bed but we didn't. The part I really hated was that we left at 7:30 am for our honeymoon the next morning and we weren't able to do breakfast in bed, lounge around, pack properly, say goodbye to friends....

I wouldnt consider it a regret as all. We had a late wedding (over at 1AM). We didnt leave the place until 2:15, and didnt roll into our new place until after 3. We knew we wanted to sleep in the next day, and not be stressed about when we woke up, where to store the dress, etc. We saved $$ to put towards our honeymoon, and I think $$ well saved (JMO)

honestly, i don't think there is a more perfect way to end the wedding night than to come back to your own home as husband and wife for your first night together....dh and i came home at 2:30 after our wedding, we had our own bottle of champagne in the fridge, had a few chocolate covered strawberries....it was soooo nice to wake up at home the next morning and have breakfast in our bed...you will be spending many nights in a hotel for your honeymoon....your first night together should be someplace personal...jmho

I knew there was more than one reason why I totally loved my FH so much.... I was just telling him about this thread, and he said to me.... don't worry.... no matter where we spend our first night together it'll be special, because you'll be my wife & i'll be your husband, and no one can ever change that...
