Just wondering - has anyone experienced a florist that tells you

Just wondering - has anyone experienced a florist that tells you

they would send you a proposal in the mail and not give you a quote right at the time of your visit?

Doesn't this strike you as odd?

That strikes me as very odd. Both florists I visited gave me quotes in person. I feel like they should give you a quote in person because most of them want you to sign a contract day of.

I saw about 5 or 6 florists and none of them said that. That would of pi$$ed me off a bit.

Yea, I thought it was very strange. I was thinking the same thing that they would not want me to have to wait for a contract in the event I find someone else!

I've been to 8 florists and two did that. One I'm seeing tonight made me tell her over the phone what I wanted and when we meet later, she'll have the estimate there. That kind of saves time actually.

The three florists I met with gave me a quote during our meeting....it would be odd to wait as you did make the trip all the way there to meet with them! The least they can do is give you a quote!

We agreed verbally to the budget and what we were getting. I guess we knew what we wanted already.

The owner sent us the contract to be signed with everything we discussed. She took notes all along our meeting. Everything we had agreed on was on the contract. Nothing was missing.

I dont' think its all that odd, because flower prices change, depending on what you want, when you want, and which wholesaler the florist uses. They may be checking around to see what the best price they could find for you is. If this is the only thing you found 'odd' i would give them the benefit of the doubt, and see what they quote you.

Each one of the florists I saw sent a proposal to me in the mail. They tried to give me a ballpark figure but I did not find out the actual price for about a week. It was no big deal

Yes - but we discussed our budget during the meeting and we were clear on how much we wanted to spend per centerpiece. I didn't have a problem with that. I liked written estimates more than verbal anyway.

I saw 2 florists, and both of them phoned me with a quote 2 - 3 days later. I didn't think it was that odd..

Me too!!!! They tell you not to worry that it can still be changed if you don't like the price of something

I think my friend used a florist that mailed her a quote later as well. some of the smaller florists might do that

Yeah my florist said she would send a proposal and I am still waiting for it (thanks for reminding me to call again). I have met with her twice and we have an overall idea of price and she said that is the highest it would be which gives me a lot of wiggle room. She doesn't do a lot of weddings so I wasn't really worried.

I had a florist do that.. and not call me back OR send me the quote... needless to say I did NOT book with them.. I was quite disappointed!

all the florists we met with gave us an estimate up front....if its someone you are really interested in, i would just call them.

i mean they aren't even giving you a ball park, you have to wait for it in the mail? geez...i'd want at least a rough, high-end estimate.

of course the vendor golden rule is: if you aren't comfortable, don't book it!!

I think it is a bit odd. My florist sat down with me, listened to what I wanted, and then changed things to fit into our budget. We met with her twice for about an hour each to discuss. She figured everything out with tax and delivery on the spot.

my florist did this... it gave her time to fully research the flowers I was asking for and come up with the price... she would give price ranges, but not exact prices until she was certain... i know that I sell jewelry... i wouldnt be able to give my customers the best available price on a custom made design unless i had time to figure out all the pricing myself... remember, sometimes not all flowers are as available at different times of the year, so that can cause them to be more pricey than at other times...
