keeping your dress in 'preserved' before the wedding

keeping your dress in 'preserved' before the wedding

I am having my dress made, and I am wondering how to keep the satin from changing or turning color or something between the time that it's completed and the day I wear it. Is there something that I can put on it or do bridal shops have the dresses treated?

What does your bridal shop or manufacturer do to keep it fresh and beautiful?

I am sure your dress maker can give you some suggestions.

LMAO she's the one that mentioned it to ME! she's my friend, who happens to also be in fashion design, but she's never been on the 'preservation' end of it...

keep it somewhere dark and dry not in an attic or basement where it gets humid and if you are going to box it do it with acid free tissue paper.
good luck and it should not turn any color it takes many years for satin to start turning. unless it is in the sunlight

sorry.. intruding from the 05 board here
i have the same thing... my mom is makign my dress and had to make it this fall ( the wedding in in june) becasue my parents own a garden center and shes REALLY busy like right up to the wedding... so its been made for a few months... we used a silk satin material, so i was worried about it changing too... my mom made a big 'bag' for it out of muslin ( a heavy white material) and we have it hanging in her room... its not in the complete dark, but it doesn't get any direct sunlight and its not humid...
i think the other person was right- it takes years for the material to change colors, so as long as it not right in the sun from windows or in the basement thats humid... you should be ok good luck!
