what is everyone doing with regards to kids? especially for those with lots of kids.
if you're not having them...are you planning to have a babysitter or planning anything or just letting the parents deal with it?

There aren't that many kids in my family. We will probably include them.

just letting the parents deal with it....
(Man, does that sound b!tchy?! I don't mean for it to!!!)
But luckily my parents are 100% on-board with it and plan to spread the word!

Re: kids at wedding
FH REALLY doesnt want kids, and honestly we would have to pay quite alot to invite kids and i think its too much for chicken fingers and french fries, infact its quite ridiculous to pay that much for chicken fingers lol...Plus when you invite kids and if you have a decent amount then you have to have more tables so thats more centerpieces, if you're getting chair covers then more of that and so on.
Baby sitters are a good option too, depends on the venue too and if there is an area where they can stay in, also i forgot exactly how it goes but its about 5-7 kids per baby sitter, so lets say you have 20 or above you will need a couple of baby sitters, dont know what the cost is for that but it might get pretty expensive

yup we're right there with you. FH has about 15 little cousins under the age of 10 and we're not inviting them. The only kids invited are his 2 nephews. Everyone else can find their own babysitters! I have enough to worry about that day.

Re: kids at wedding
I am not having any kids, I only have two family members with young kids. Hopefully they have someone to watch them because I am not providing a sitter.

Re: kids at wedding
ive been reading on other boards and bhb that for babysitters sometimes its good to find trustworthy hs kids that a local guest knows/uses and i have even seen other brides on here offer to babysit!
i was thinking i would let the parents deal with it and if i have lots of complaints/problems etc...then i would look into the babysitter route (or if i have left over $ to burn )

Re: kids at wedding
I have a flower girl, ring bearer, 2 jr. bridesmaids, 1 jr. usher, and about 4 more that are not in the wedding but invited. I think it makes it fun having them out on the dance floor, and they are so excited to be part of it. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah there aren't many in our family either. We will just let the parents deal with that.

I wouldn't hire a babysitter for invited children. They'll be there with their families.

If my rh is willing to lower the price for kids then MAYBE ill think about it lol, also would be nice if i knew from ahead of time who would want to bring their kids, otherwise we could be looking at a pretty large number of kids.
I just cant get over spending close to $100 for chicken fingers and fries lol

problem is parents dont take care of their kids alot of times at these events they let them run wild and do whatever, the way they see it is that its a free night for them

oh I was thinking you provide babysitters for the kids that weren't invited? I don't know how this whole babysitter thing works.

Don't forget you will probably have to pay for the sitter's food.

Re: kids at wedding
whenever we go to family functions the kids are alllll over the place cuz there are so many. and i mean i have fun with them and they are cute...but like my fh's sister has a 2 yr old and whenever im over or there is a function...she'll walk away from him and expect everyone else (or me) to take care of him!!!!!!
and i know i wont be the one really dealing with this on the wedding day...but there will be other guests who do have to and that's not fair to them either.
i think its more of a problem when there are a loooot of kids in the family!

well you hire a babysitter to stay with the kids, usually in another room where they do activities, crafts and whatever else they do.
