Re: Kids or no Kids....at the reception?
Unless they are in the bridal party (flower girl or ring bearer) - absolutely no kids! They don't belong at the wedding and its a chance for the parents to relax and just have fun and socialize - something they can't do so freely with their kids around

Re: Kids or no Kids....at the reception?
Ours is adult only also except for our first cousins. There are only 7 under 18 years old and they are all older than 10 so it's not a big deal. Plus the two youngest girls are helping with programs at the ceremony.

Re: Kids or no Kids....at the reception?
We are not having kids except for FH's niece and nephew who are in the BP.
Between our two families we had almost 60 children. Even though they are a reduced price, that put us up to almost 370 people.
We addressed the envelopes Mr. & Mrs. - I think it was already mentioned to his side that there were no kids invited.

Re: Kids or no Kids....at the reception?
We're opting for a NO KIDS reception. We have spoken about this several times. We're having a somewhat small wedding and our budget would be almost doubled if we invite kids. (Tons of kids in my family) also kids can be mayhem, when unsupervised. I feel bad for the well behaved kids but some of my cousin's kids are really bad!
We just had a party for my brother's 15th birthday at my parent's place a few months ago (he's much younger than me). One of my cousin's kids tampered with the 50 gallon fishtank's filter. Needless to say we spent 30-45 minutes collecting water in buckets, using towels for the one we couldn't' collect and taking our fish out before they died! (I did this personally, with my fancy dress on and all!) It was a nightmare!! My parents had purposely moved the fish tank into their bedroom and somehow the kids still managed to get into the room and tamper with the filter. We didn't notice until the water was in the hallway and we had guests alarmed! (At first we thought they had broken the tank because of the way water was spilling out!). The kids' parents? No where to be found having a blast at the party. Umm, that and the budget issue has totally convinced us that as much as we LOVE kids, they should enjoy parties that are more age appropriate than a wedding and since we have fountains and gardens at the venue, we don't want the next episode to be, WHO's the naked child in the fountain??? (sorry for the long story)
How are we addressing it?? We're telling the immediate family first, they are spreading the word..... Our wedding isn't for another year+ but we'll continue to say it and then on our formal invite we'll say: 'Unfortunately, we're unable to accommodate any guests under the age of 16.' Also, we'll specify the number of guests invited in a family. We're inviting the flower girl and ring bearer though....

No kids. You have to be 13 years old. That is the cut off we used. You should make a cutoff age and anyone who doesnt make it can't come.

Re: Kids or no Kids....at the reception?
We had kids. DH has 23 nieces and nephews and at the time 2 great nieces. They ranged from 2 to 28. There was no clear cut off so we invited them all. It was so much fun. It was great having the kids there. But we didn't invite our cousins kids or anything like that just our nieces and nephews.

What is anyone doing about families that are traveling from OOT with children?!
I just found out this morning from my mom that a close family friends wedding we were planning on attending in Oct. isn't having children & I refuse to leave my son with someone in NY while I'm in FL
