Kids sleeping in your bed. Im watching Nanny 911.

I agree. We have never let our son sleep in our bed. It might sound mean but even when he is sick one of us will sleep with him in his bed or on the couch instead of bringing him into our bed - My sister made that mistake when my nephew was 10 months old and every night he would come into their bed for over a year after that!

Its one thing if the kid has a nightmare or its a thunderstorm (when I was younger I would sleep on my parents floor when it was bad thunder) Ok FINE. BUT NOT EVERYDAY! These parents push 2 beds together and all 5 people sleep in the bed!

Isn't that part of 'attachment parenting'? Where there is a 'family bed'?

I could never do that. My parents really discouraged that with us and I am glad they did. When we were sick we got to sleep in the room right next door.

In a lot of other countries that is the norm. And I know of a lot of people that let their kids sleep in the bed with them. Some people like the closeness and knowing that their kids are right there with them.

I'm not watching the show so I can't comment on this particular case but I do know that it is quite common. What are the ages for these kids?

The youngest is four. Its just so STRANGE. And I can't help but think what happens when they 'grow' up. I don't know

I dont blame her though. These kids will never 'grow up'.

I can't blame her. She made a good point.

I never watched this show before but I may have to start now.

I was wrong they are 5 and 3. Still drinking out of sippy cups and drinking milk in the middle of the night. So that sits on the teeth all night.

THE problem is that Mommy doesnt want them to grow up.

When my son would stay over my house. He would sleep in his bed. Even when he would have a nightmare I would comfort him in his bed. The only exception was if he fell a sleep watching tv in my bed. Then I would carry him to his bed, and that would be that.
No kids in the bed.

Nanny knows best! Those kids wanted and needed their independence!

The nanny made them sleep alone in their room. Mom and Dad read them a book and in 10 minutes they were asleep no crying nothing! Mom says WOW thats great I can't believe it!

Occasionally my 3yr old will wake up in the middle of the night and climb into bed and we dont kick her out and personally we dont think there is anything wrong with that....it is not an everyday thing just when she has a bad dream or wakes up after she hears a noise

when i was younger and home sick, i would be able to take a nap in my parents bed because they had a window where the afternoon sun cam ein and i just remember feeling so warm and safe in their bed....but I never developed problems from it because I knew it was just when I was ill.

however, now being in a relationship where 'our' bed is used for more than just sleeping, as a parent I wouldnt want that invaded with our kids.

Its like on 7th heaven tonight too...Kevin wanted lucy the wife back instead of Lucy the mother calling him 'good little boy' and such...ugh Kick me when I get like that!

Re: Kids sleeping in your bed. Im watching Nanny 911.

Kiera sleeps in her crib every night but there have been occasions where she has slept in the bed with us and I'll be honest...I love it. It's not something I would do every night, not even once a week. But the couple of times that we have her right there next to us is just so nice. It's really a nice feeling to fall asleep knowing that the 2 people I love the most in this world are right next to me.

Now having 2 kids at the ages of 5 & 3 sleep in the bed every night seems a little extreme. I don't understand how those parents have any 'alone time.' But personally I have no problems with our daughter sleeping next to us every now and then.

Oh im not saying its bad once in a while and when they are babies. BUT at 5 and 3 EVERYnight thats a little nuts.

I had a friend when I was younger that slept in the bed with her parents. She was like 8 or so at the time - it was just something that was culturally accepted (I can't remember what her background was though).
