hey ladies okay so.. this is kind of a confession... im not engaged yet... but we booked our engagement party and the ring... well it should be comming any single second so i am really really excited. i went with to pick out my setting and my stonein january... (and i know his last payment is approaching)... and we booked our party in early february... i know it sounds kind of backwards but we went to chateau la mer.. just for a food tasting.. knowing that we were interested in having our e party there over the summer and we loved the food they told us they only had two to three dates open for this summer so we immediatly put the deposit down... sooooo i guess i just had to confess to you girls that im half way engaged...just havent recieved the ring yet.. i hope no one minds .. i am just as excited as the rest of you! and we do anticipate a 2011 wedding.

lol, we're the backwards couple..house, marriage, engagement, wedding? lol, who knows? We actually felt it would be better financially. I dunno. I've put it off forever.
No worries, I totally understand. I've been with my FH for over 7 years, lived together for 5 of them, bought a place together, then a car, then engagement.... At this point, I feel like we might as well just run to City Hall and get it done just to reap the tax benefits! lol

How about this one....I just got my ring last month but booked my wedding and all of my vendors since last March. We have been together so long (9years) and have a son together we figured lets just do it. I really wanted the ring but i wanted to book and pay down on some of the vendors so i didnt want him spending the money on the ring right then. The i lost my job so he was paying ALL of the bills and taking care of us so I didnt expect it then.
there is nothing wrong with what you are doing. Dont be ashamed at all

I agree with the other LIW brides to be. You dont need a ring on your finger to be considered engaged! I was looking at venues, rings, photographers etc. a year before he actually popped the question. We had 3 different rings before we finally bought this one! Being engaged is more about the feeling and knowing that you are one more step closer to making a commitment forever to you FH, the one person who you will forever build your dreams with!! Congrats and upload pics of the ring when it comes!

I am also not 'engaged'. I do not have a ring yet, I have no idea when I am getting it because, we still want that to be a surprise. Basically we picked a date, and we started booking stuff because the date that worked for us is next year.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!
I think it is kind of cool that a few of us are doing things backwards.
