If you can give your child one thing that you had or didn't have from your childhood, what would it be?
(it can be advice, a trip, a book, etc)

Re: kind of a spin-off
I'd love to give my children a home that they can grow up in and come back home to when they get older. I moved around A LOTTTT as a kid and i hate the fact that I dont have that ONE home to go back to. To share memories of and have that comfy homey feeling

The freedom we as kids had (being able to ride bikes outside, play outside, without being worried will be kidnapped, etc.) Its not the same anymore.

I totally agree with you Dana. my mom was a single mom, so we moved so much... there is not one house we ever lived in that felt like 'home'

The ability to let loose and just be a kid. I grew up in a very authoritarian household. I LOVE my parents don't get my wrong, but my dad was VERY strict. His mantra was children should be seen and not heard. Because of that we were always shy and kind of always hung back at parties and things like that........granted I ended up fine and am PLENTY outgoing now......but I don't want my kids to ever feel like they can't roll around in the dirt and scream and laugh...ya know?

I would want them to know what a wonderful person my grandmother was. It makes me sad that my children will never know her. It is important for me to keep her memory alive, and to let them know all about her. She was my favorite person in the world

its really upsetting that I cant take my children to grandmas house so I can show them where i grew up and had a childhood. If i did that we'd be driving around for days looking at all the homes I lived in!! lol as sad as that is

I'm this way about my grandfather. He was the greatest person ever. He had such an amazing heart and was so giving to everyone. He kept the family together and once he passed, everything fell apart. Its been almost 10 yrs since he passed and I still cry over it

Karate lessons...I think they give people more confidence...I was always shy and insecure growing up...I still am a little, but I think I know how to hide it a little better

wow, same exact thing w/ me. we moved a lot, then i lived with other relatives, was separated from my brother. one of the things i really want to provide is for my kids to have a home w/ two stable parents, and know that they will always have a place to call home.

Re: kind of a spin-off
Grandfathers!!!!
I want my children to have their grandfathers in their lives. My mom's dad died at 54 yrs old and only one grandchild was born but he was only 5 months when my grandpa died so none of us knew him.
And my dad's dad died at age 47 and NO grandkids were born on that side. And it is soo sad because my mom always talks about what a great great man he was.
I wish I had grandfathers or got to meet them at least. So I definitely want my dad and ffil to be around for a very long time to see their grandkids grow and play with them etc.
