I hope I'm not the only one who is hoping to make some of that money back from wedding gifts!
now dont get upset--I KNOW guests arent obligated to give gifts/money and I will be happy just if people show up....but come on....let's face it....we want to open up those cards and see GREEN!!!!

I'm hoping FH and I rake in about $10k

DH and I only received half of the cost of the wedding. That being said, I agree with the poster who wrote that the money spent is gone. That is how I looked at it. When you expect to 'make' money from a wedding, you will probably be disappointed. I have had friends, however, who had their weddings paid in full by family and were able to keep all of the gifts. In that circumstance, you can wind up with a lot of cash.

How much money do I expect to MAKE?

Sorry. But we're paying for this wedding ourselves, and if everyone gives us $100 on average (I figure this is an OK average considering we'll get $0 from some guests who give gifts instead, and more money than that from family), we'll still be in the hole about $20,000.

I know that we wont make back what we put in but me and FH are paying for our wedding so we are hoping for atleast 20K to 30K. (For a down payment on a house)

after everything with the wedding it should cost approx 70k
and $$$$ back will prob be about 30k
plus all those great shower gifts and engagment party gifts.....

but i just really want my guest to have fun and i want everything to go smooth....

the only thing im hoping to make is that 95 people show up at my wedding, because that was my minimum.. 'F' the $$$ so over $$$ by now....

im just hoping that after the wedding we're still not rediculously poor...fh and i have no idea how we are paying for everything as it is...so im really hoping to just make some kinda money

I don't really care...but I've already recieved gifts off the registry as engagement gifts. we never even had an E-party but they sent them anyway as soon as they heard and they spent $300 - $500 and thats not for bridal shower or wedding...I know FH's family is extremely generous and FH's parents are saving money to give us as a wedding envelope...and I know for them to say 'theyre saving' means its fairly significant.

we have not used credit cards for anything thus far so im happy about that!
