so FH and i went on monday to pick the menu and make some final decisions.. well.. i thought we were only going to make menu choices and make a payment as well as pick out napkin color.. WELL to my surprise i was picking out my cake as well.. and to be honest the lady we sat down with was very nice but i felt that she was a bit on the pushy side and i dont know if it was just because i was caught off guard.
but what i thought would happen was that i would get a list of what come with the package and then all the extras as well as a bunch of pics to look at then taste THEN PICK!!!
well i got none of the above!! i got a book with about 10 pics and it was all that was included in the package.. when i asked about doing something different she poo-pooed my ideas and told me it was not worth my money.. so i had a choice of yellow cake or chocolate and a choice of 4 fillings END OF STORY!! im kinda upset.. what do you girls think??

You probably do have time to get the cake from an outside baker if you want.
I do kinda agree with your FH though, if the BM is saying that the type of cake you wanted isn't that good, then I wouldn't spend the extra money to upgrade to that. Is it possible that she meant 'their version of red velvet cake isn't that good'???
my hall has no problem with the fact that we're bringing in an outside cake. They added something but nothing big, just something small which dont get me wrong i am more than happy about. She explained that they personally dont pay alot for the standard cakes that are included so not like we can get something that is worth alot of money but hey i was glad to get anything at all hahaha. It was just a little something they added at CH
So some halls definitely do allow it

thats exactly what she ment and to be honest with you i agree with you and FH if shes saying its not good im not going to get it i was just surprised that she would have said it. like i said its really not a big deal this is just a frist bridezilla moment for me! jsut wasnt sure if it was normal that places do this or not!!

I totally see your point....sometimes it isnt what vendors say but how they say it. You may not have been so offended had she been nice about it since hello you are spending a fortune at her RH! I also dont care about cake but would be pissed with that treatment! Sorry you had this experience...but in the end Im sure the cake will look and taste great!

i would find out what bakery they use and go directly there. Speak to a manager and see what choices you have.
