Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

Just an FYI: After being ready to spend a fortune on a gown there plus their $400 alteration fee, tax and a few other things - they told me they would have to charge me an additional few hundred because I was big busted! ***??? Isnt that included in the $400? Apparently not. (keep in mind that Im a size 36D which is not THAT huge and I ended up getting the exact same gown elsewhere and was not charged extra for the bust and the total price was $1000 less than what Kleinfelds wanted)

Other than that, i had a good experience there.

And I think any bridal salon should kiss your a$$ - Kleinfelds is no different than most of their competitors.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

I purchased my dress at Kleinfeld's and in fact it came in yesterday. Kleinfeld's for me, was my last stop.
I had been to many other stores on Long Island and I could not find 'the one'.

I know that the dresses are on the high side and I was a little ambivelent about going there and falling in love with a dress that was over 4,000.
But you have nothing to loose and that is what attitude I went with.

You are also just going there for the experience, I was told that I should just go there to have the kleinfeld experience and so I did.

My dress that I purchased was very very affordable and even the saleswoman I worked with could not believe the price. It was the best one that I looked at.

They know what they are doing there.

I will tell you after I bought the dress I called RK bridal and they had it there for a couple of hundred less. I personally didn't care about the savings because I love the customer service that Kleinfeld's gives to you. I wanted a full service salon!!

Again, Everyone taste is different..

i say go for it. But make you appointment first thing in the morning if you go on a Saturday!!!

fm me with any questions.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

If you plan on going to their sample sale you should register yourself with The Knot because Kleinfelds does marketing through them and they send $200 discount coupons off sample dresses by email to local Knotties.

Also, it's best to have gone gown shopping before the sale and get a sense of what you like/don't like because you have to go around the racks and pick the dresses you want to try on and appointments are limited to 1 hour. Also most sample sizes are in size 10 (around 8 in street size), so if you wear a bigger size then the sample sale will not work for you. You should try to get an early appointment too, as they start to run behind at the middle/end of the day and the sales associates may be more tempermental too.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

Personally, I hate Kleinfelds...I won't even go to look. I got my prom dress from them way back when and when I hugged my mother good bye, the back of my gown ripped and my mother had to play seamstress.

The last time I brought a friend there I had to give my credit card number when I made the appt. b/c if you don't show, they charge you $50 and at that time, they told me gowns begin at $1500... and on top of the millions you spend on your gown, they charge you a fortune for alterations!

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

I purchased my gown from Kleinfelds and had an amzing experience. I found the service to be great and the consultants extremely nice and helpful. If you do decide to go ask for Toni Anne!

They do have all price ranges. When I went I saw gown as low as 500 up to 5k. My gown was a little pricey but go in there knowing what you want to spend and stick to that.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

I purchased my dress from Kleinfelds. I love my dress although it was definitely more than I expected to spend on a dress. My first visit was horrible but after going back and asking for a different saleperson, Audrey, I had a much more pleasant experience. I went to RK Bridal after purchasing my dress to have my BMs look at dresses. Since they were all late, I decided to try on more wedding dresses. I realized that I could have gotten a dress at a more reasonable price
( not for my dress because it is made by a rather upscale designer..but in all honesty I would have been just as happy with the dress I tried on at RK Bridal). I would say visit both stores before committing to a dress.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

I'm MOH in my best friends wedding. Went to Kleinfelds with her - they were totally pushy and rude. We then went to RK and it was like night and day - better prices, greater selection, NICE salespeople.

Skip Kleinfelds, IMHO.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

Wow, I made an appointment there, so we'll see. I made it first thing in the morning on a weekday (I'm taking off from work & hoping to go to a few stores that day, depending on what works out). I remember an old post on Kleinfeld's that said parking was difficult there. Is that true?

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

Parking's not all that bad... you may have to drive around a bit... or you can always pay and park in the garage.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?

Hi, I would say Kleinfelds is worth the trip, but I'm biased because I got my dress there. I had a wonderful experience, Renee Pinto helped me and she was such a doll. Not pushy at all. In fact, my dress turned out to be less than what I had told her I wanted to spend, it was $1600 for a Chistos dress. I do recommend going during the week because Saturday's tend to be crazy busy. Good luck!
