Can anyone show me a picture of this. Im pretty sure that this is the kind of setting I have. Also with these settings the band doesnt sit flush against the ring=right??

Re: knife edge setting
i dont have photos yet - but i will later on tonight - my e-ring has a knife edge to the band - i actually found a knife edge wedding band at Littman's Jewelers - going there tonight with FH - once i take pix i will FM you them ;) - (it makes the band have square corners to it - if that makes sense)

Re: knife edge setting
knife edge doesn't really have anything to do with whether the ring sits flush, it just means that rather than being smooth, the band comes to a point -- this is on the top surface and not on the side edge, so it doesnt affect a second ring.
however, tiffany & co rings which are knife-edge have a low setting and THAT is what can make it hard to find a ring that sits flush
pic 1: a knife edge e-ring with a knife-edge wedding band
pic 2: knife edge e-ring with diamond band
pic 3: tiffany & co ring stock photo (knife edge)
Edit: I looked in your albums and you do NOT have a knife-edge band. (it's the band, not the setting that is considered 'knife-edge' and it's usually seen in a solitaire although the second pic i posted has a wedding band with diamonds half way around, and a knife edge band for the other half)
When you look at your ring with the diamond facing you, the band tapers up toward the diamond. So the band gets skinnier as it heads toward the diamond.
I didn't realize it looking in those photos too. You can see it. It's not a smooth band. It's like it almost comes to a point. Am I making ANY sense? LOL

Re: knife edge setting
so its only the band that would be considered a knife edge? Is there a name for the ring that has prongs that wont allow for a band to sit against it flush?

It's prolly just a low setting. Like on my ring, the prongs start almost all the way at the very bottom of the band. It's not a Cathedral Setting. I can't get any band to sit flush with my ring.

that's what my ring is like too! i like having a low setting but it made it hard to find a wedding band that looked good with it

Some jewelers that I went to suggested get a buffer ring to put between my engagement ring and the band. Like a VERY thin plain band. I tried it out. I could barely see it because it was so skinny. But those were for the rings with the obvious gap. I found some bands that weren't so bad. I found that the channel set bands were a little better than eternity bands.
