Knives - bad luck?

Knives - bad luck?

I just registered for a knife set. Then I heard that getting a bride knives as a shower gift is bad luck. Isn't it just that you are not supposed to USE a knife to open gifts? Confused....anyone ever heard of this? SHould I take it off my registry?

True about using knives/scissors. If you do get knives pay the person with a quarter.

I heard the same exact thing. A family member and a BM both told me that no one will buy them. But I am leaving the knives (which I really want) on the registry. I figure that there has to be some people there that aren't superstitious that will but them.

I registered for knives & recieved them at my shower, w/ no bad luck, LOL. I never heard of that superstition & I suppose the person who bought them didn't either!

I have heard that. Someone bought our steak knives off the registry, but the only gift left on my registry was my knife block set. We knew no one would buy it because of this old 'rule', but at least we will get 10% off it when we buy it!

I have never heard of this eithe, but I did hear of something similiar of putting a quarter or penny for good luck in the box if you purchase it. I have already received knives with change in it :)
