knockoff bag parties

Original post by aliwnec10

I was thinking of having a knock off bag party and i was curious if you girls knew anyone who did these? If so, can you please share their contact info so i can give them a call. I have no idea how these things work... so any help would be appreciated.

*Do they travel anywhere? (Meaning i live out east towards the end of suffolk).

I think everyone is materialistic because people are in competition with eachother, maybe they dont realize it...but its quite possible. Living on LI its like a who's who and who's got what...we dont live in the midwest where women wear Mom jeans and puffy paint sweatshirts...this is NY, where the finest most glamorous stores exist!!! Men work hard to keep there women looking fashionable...if it was acceptable to look average then people would not work so hard!!!

I have never gotten involved in any drama on these boards before but I have to say that this is one of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read. First of all not everyone is materialistic. Secondly its 2005 and there are many woman who have great careers and make more money than their men and finally I've never bought anything because I didn't want to look 'average'. I have a number of designer bags among other fashionable items but I buy them because I like them, not because I need to fit in. Looking glamorous is not the be all and end all. I think its more important to be a good person.

Thank you..you've just said what i've been trying to say. i've been sitting here for a few minutes writing and re-writing my response to that post above and not finding any way to say it nicely. What a bunch of immature, materialistic nonsense.

And by the way - i happen to like knockoff bags. Why should i pay hundreds of dollars for a bag that i'm only going to use for a few months? I LOOOOVE bags and buy them all the time - but i buy them at decent prices and use them all.

Re: knockoff bag parties

Okay so i'm sorry if this sounds bitchy... BUT i wasn't asking for anyone's opinions on whether or not they would buy a knock off bag!!! But thanks to everyone who has put it down and called them crap! (Sorry if some people just like the bags and can't afford to throw away $500 bucks! To some, $500 dollars is a big deal and some of you seem to be forgetting that not all of us on here are rich). ALL i was asking was if anyone had a contact who did these parties!

And i know there are tubberware, lingerie parties or whatever else is out there... but my FSIL wants to have this party and i'm just trying to find out some information for her. And yes i said PARTY. You know... a cute little get together with a bunch of girls shooting the **** so to speak and maybe a few drinks.

So all of you need to relax!! This has nothing to do with being materialistic, having your FI buy the bag for you, or about woman being able to afford their own bags in the year 2006. A few of you are going off on your own tangent and taking things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

We usually have one at work each year. If the lady comes back this season I'll get her info for you. I think they're fun and a good reason for a girl's night out!

I don't mean to butt in... I see this post has gotten a little out of hand...

But I HATE KNOCKOFFS...
1st off... Its illegal...
2nd Reason being...People who buy knockoffs, put people like me (designers) out of business.

And usually if you buy the real one it could last around 10 yrs... (ie... Louis Vuitton), knockoffs last around 1 yr.

There is also a difference between the tupperwear parties... that is a brand named product that people want to buy... as is a brand name bag...

Sorry if I take this personally.

I cannot imagine spending more than even 50 on a bag that will last a few months...That's why I buy my purses at Target!!! When they get out of style or get dirty I throw them out because I only spend 15 bucks!!! I'd rather save and spend the money on a house or vacation then show off by buying designers...I don't buy knock offs either, just whatever they sell at a store like Target or Old Navy....

alright maybe you all should look into candal parties, or maybe make up parties...and sample sales for cheap real designer bags....
I once brought a $500 Prada bag for $75 at a sample sale!

I think we need to get back to the original post. (See above) All aliwnec10 was asking for was contact information and information on how theses parties work, not opinions.

We are all here to help eachother out.

This must have been written for shock value-nobody is stupid enough to think this way. People work hard for many reasons. For example; to pay bills, to go to school, to provide a home for their children, for a better quality of life, because they like their work. Men and women work hard for all these reasons and many more.

To answer the original poster's question-I have no contact information for you but I think imitations are a great way to get something cheap that is going to be out of style pretty quickly anyway. JMO.

I'm still trying to get past the 'Men work hard to keep there (SP) women looking fashionable..' Hello! I hope most ladies on this site agree with me when I say -- I work hard to keep MYSELF looking good...we're not living in the 50's anymore...and like that poster said - it is NY...where not only the finest stores are, but some of the finest schools and opportunities.

My apologies, I had to get that out. To the original post - I don't have any info on these parties - sorry.
