knockoff bag parties

Original post by aliwnec10

I was thinking of having a knock off bag party and i was curious if you girls knew anyone who did these? If so, can you please share their contact info so i can give them a call. I have no idea how these things work... so any help would be appreciated.

*Do they travel anywhere? (Meaning i live out east towards the end of suffolk).

I cannot imagine spending more than even 50 on a bag that will last a few months...That's why I buy my purses at Target!!! When they get out of style or get dirty I throw them out because I only spend 15 bucks!!! I'd rather save and spend the money on a house or vacation then show off by buying designers...I don't buy knock offs either, just whatever they sell at a store like Target or Old Navy....

But you can speak for me!! I agree with you 100%

I don't mean to butt in... I see this post has gotten a little out of hand...

But I HATE KNOCKOFFS...
1st off... Its illegal...
2nd Reason being...People who buy knockoffs, put people like me (designers) out of business.

And usually if you buy the real one it could last around 10 yrs... (ie... Louis Vuitton), knockoffs last around 1 yr.

There is also a difference between the tupperwear parties... that is a brand named product that people want to buy... as is a brand name bag...

Sorry if I take this personally.

I could not agree more! My family manufactures textiles here in the US and I cringe everytime I see a knock-off anything.
I know and fully understand that not everyone can afford a bag that is for ex.$500 but thats why we call it a luxury, not a necessity.
Knock-offs are mass produced and poorly made, you get what you pay for. A lot goes into the production of a bag such as a Louie,Gucci,Channel, fillintheblank___ bag. You not only buy a name but also pay for craftsmanship & quality. There are designers (Prinses777) product development, advertisement and campaigning that has to be paid for.
Buying/Manufacturing a Knock-Off is illegal and violates copyright laws. It also takes away jobs here in the US(most knock-offs are made in either China or Mexico) and closes factories/mills that employ the American worker. Your Knock-Off might not cost much to buy but it costs my industry millions in revenue every year.
I think its not true that bags go out of style, fashion repeats itself over time. A luxury bag will always be in style and appreciated, they are components of a collection. If you properly care for your bag,it will last you a lifetime. There is nothing 'materialistic' in me wanting and spending $$ on the real thing.
1. its a wise investment,it doesn't lose its
value.
2. its not ILLEGAL
3. its MY $$ to spend,I've worked
and earned it,or my 'man' did for
me.

I'm not lecturing, just wanted you ladies to be aware of the long term and flipside of Knock-Offs. Just a quick story,I once worked with a huge 'somebody' here in NYC and he cancelled a whole real estate deal because one of the companies associates walked into the meeting(the signing I should say) with a fake Fendi. It sound extreme but it is 100% true, that $40 knock-off cost her company millions.
I'm sorry if I took a detour of the topic,to answer the question- no info..but have a party anyway! I did not mean to offend anyone with my post, not everyone has spare $$ to buy such lavish things but just wanted to spread a little public awareness.

well said sunrise...

No offense soontobe2007, but I was not agreeing with you, and furthermore I do not agree with one single word you have posted on this thread.

You are way off the mark as far as I am concerned.

I think everyone is materialistic because people are in competition with eachother, maybe they dont realize it...but its quite possible. Living on LI its like a who's who and who's got what...we dont live in the midwest where women wear Mom jeans and puffy paint sweatshirts...this is NY, where the finest most glamorous stores exist!!! Men work hard to keep there women looking fashionable...if it was acceptable to look average then people would not work so hard!!!

I DISAGREE

I think you need to travel around the country and the world for that matter to make a statement like that about New York.

If you look at New York City as 80th Street down to 40th Street - sure, it's glamorous and GEARED at the tourists.

Your general statement about people in the MidWest with the mom jeans and puffy pain sweatshirts - highly misconstrued view.

As far as MEN working hard to keep their women looking fashionable - it's 2005, wake up, smell the coffee and realize that we're not all GOLD DIGGERS.

You should choose your words wisely.

andri... I couldn't have said it better myself... I just didn't want to get into it all... Thank you.

Also... For those of you who don't think it is a problem... Why don't you travel to the 3rd world countries and visit the sweat shops that you are supporting...

I have been to Korea and China for work (and these aren't even 3rd world countries)... You should see the working conditions they work in... and make $30 a month...

It is not always about the money, and the label... its about the Morality.

I honestly do not want to offend anyone... but I just wanted you to understand where I am coming from.

Thanks.

I am not offended by what anyone said except for soontobe2007-everyone else made an intelligent and well phrased argument to support their point. Princess777 and Andri-you make great points and I have a good deal of respect for your position-we can all differ.
