I know there were a few of you that were going to have trials done with her...I was wondering how it turned out?? I was going to ask a hairdresser that I know here in Long Beach, but since we are going to be in Huntington the morning of my wedding, that isn't convenient for her. Besides, she wants $100 each for me, my mom, and 1 bridesmaid. I thought that was a little pricey! I appreciate your feedback on your trials!! Thanks.. :) JOY

Hi Joy, Kristen is my regular hairdresser, and I used her for my wedding 'do. I had a trial with her, which was beautiful, and then she outdid herself for my wedding day. She is truly wonderful, and her price for a trial isn't bad. I can't remember the exact price, but I'm thinking $50. Kel? Could you help us out here?? : )

I am having only the makeup trial this Saturday. My hair is long and straight and I'm leaving most of it down, so I don't think I need a trial. I'll update you after the makeup trial. I think it's $45.

I have an appt. with her on Saturday
I need a new hairdresser since mine moved out of town. I will let you know what I think after I see her. I still have Elena booked but if I find someone I like better or am more comfortable with then I will switch. Any photos of her work?

I had my trial w/Kristen this weekend (long)
I went on Saturday...cost $90 for hair and make-up. We were there for about 1.5 hours. I went there with pictures and a basic style in mind (side or center part with a fancy bun kinda thing towards the back of my head and my hedpiece/veil below it). Her first attempt did not look like my pictures (she kept wanting to do curls and I don't want curls). I explained I wanted a smoother look and she seemed to get the idea (after another attempt at selling me on curls. She seemed to have an idea of what brides should look like saying things like 'I've never seen a bride with a center part'), but I didn't actually get to see how she would do the style I requested. She said she had the basic idea and could do it the day of the wedding no problem. But she didn't do it for me there. Isn't that what the trial is for? She was very friendly and seemed easy to work with and I felt pretty confident that she'd do a good job but I was disappointed that I didn't actually see my style on me. For my make-up, I wasn't that happy. The makeup didn't match my skin tone well (my face was much darker than my neck) and it felt very heavy/greasy on my skin (I found myself wiping my face a lot throughout the day). I had asked for a dramatic classic look (ala Audrey Hepburn) -she made my eyes very dark (too dark) and it didn't do anything for me. I wanted my eyes to 'pop' - to stand out, but it was just OK. It looked good but not bridal and not 'special'. It was just a lot of eyeshadow that I could've done myself. When we were done, I thought it was nice that she threw my hair up in a funky style cause she knew I was going to an engagement party (I toned down the makeup before the party -it was just too much). When I first left the shop I felt good about using her for (for hair & makeup)but the more I thought about it the more concerned I grew that I'd be disappointed since I didn't want the hair or make-up I'd seen that day. I may use Kristen for my hair but I found someone else for my make-up that gave me exactly the look I imagined. (I'm not sure if I can tactfully use Kristen for hair only...any ideas?) My make-up women is Jeanne and she works and the Lancolm counter at Macys in Commack. She made my eyes up in a way that makes them look huge (and they're not). You do the trial at the counter (free). She's $65 and will come to your house. Sorry if this seems like a negative post. I really liked Kristen - she's a very cool person, but I didn't like the nagging concern I had after leaving.Welcome New Vendors
