L-Shaped LR and DR -> what color(s) (pics attached)
for those that have L-Shaped LR & DR's , would colors did you use?
i like the rosey color for the DR (i would darken w/ a burgandy), but not sure about what color to paint the LR. i would like a different color then the DR as i feel it would 'open' the room. was thinking beige/tan or maybe a buttery yellow.

I love your dining room- the wainscotting is gorgeous and so is the rosy color for that room!
I think buttery yellow would be really nice in your living room- we're thinking of doing that color in our living room too!

I think you could do any colors, right? I would pick whatever colors you like. Personally, I have issues with the color yellow. So I avoid it at any cost. But I don't see why it wouldn't work if you like it.

i am not of fan of yellow either - LOL! just trying to think of colors that would go well w/ the burgandy. beige or tan is probably the best alternative.
thanks!

I would do beige or tan. I also like the way white looks with burgundy.. but I have a feeling you want something more colorful than white?

We have a dark burgundy dining room and the ceiling is a light beige with cream woodwork and it looks awesome. Our living room and dining room are adjacent and open to one another. The living room is a beige type color.

I like the wainscoting but I think its too high up on the walls. IMO it should only go about 3 ft up the wall.
But anyway, on to colors (aside from yellow) we have an L shaped DR and LR. DH put up 'colums' - see pics - to separate the rooms and then we used 2 diff colors - a greenish color and a light beigh-ish color (sorry cantr describe them any better) see pics attached.

I agree.
As for colors.....beige works and I like that combo with red. You could always go a shade lighter or darker, in the same family, for the LR.

Personally I love the high wainscotting! I am not sure it would look good in every situation but I think the pics you showed are great!
I am not sure about colors thought b/c we are having the same dilemma! We just did our dining room with wainscotting (only 3 feet high) and then a purple/blue color on top, however i opens to our living room and I am at a loss as to what color to paint it! So I am really interested to hear what others have to say!

while i agree that the homeowner should have placed the wainscotting at half wall instead of 3/4, i think it would too much of a pain in the a r s e to change it.
w/ the 'right' color combinations it could look a lot nicer and flow better.
thanks for all the advice!
