Labels a No No???

Are you using labels? I heard that it's wrong to do labels. Is this true?

I'm thinking of handwriting my addresses.

Edit: I thought it'd be fun to learn calligraphy.

i'm not partial towards labels myself, i think it looks more 'classy' to do the calligraphy (JMO).

I had heard the were a no no

But I knew I couldn't hand write them either and we didn't want to spend the extra money to get them done.

I ended up printing on the envelopes themselves with my printer

Technically they're a no-no, ettiquite wise, but I think as long as you use clear labels and use care to apply them nicely it's totally fine.

im not a fan...

I used them, and they looked good. I didn't have the time or patience to run 100 envelopes through the printer individually.

If people get upset about a label on something they will throw away, tough.

who cares? i think theyre fine. ive gotten invites with labels and i never had a second thought about them
get the clear labels and use a nice font, & you'll be good to go

I havent even thought about that yet, but i didnt know it was a no no. I might just do the clear labels with a nice font since i am sure the calligraphy is probably pretty pricey, and i think if people are going to save anything, it wont be the envelope.

Same here. Maybe they have pretty Wedding-theme labels?

I think its OK. I wouldn't be offended if someone didn't want to spend a fortune for calligraphy. Calligraphy is very hard to learn BTW. I've taken several classes and I still suck.

I just got a wedding invitiation that looks like a 4 year old addresed it with a magic marker. At least labels look nicer than that.

I used clear labels to address bridal shower invites for a wedding I was in and I thought they looked nice...just make sure you let them dry for a bit before you touch them...they totally smuged when I touched them too soon! But the Caligraphy looks great too! How much extra does that cost?

I think it states more of an informal or generic impression JMHO

I think they're a no-no. But we didn't care. We're breaking a lot of 'rules' and could care less. We're paying and we want it our way..

We are actually going to use clear labels with a calligraphy like font. We are printing them on Friday, still trying to get all the addresses. It was FI idea, he will print them at work. I'm happy b/c it will be less time consuming. I hope it looks good.

I don't really like labels. But it's a personal choice, like everything else. I think I'm doing computer calligraphy right on the envelopes.

I asked this a while back, and it started a whole HUGE controversy - I am probably going to use labels myself, unless someone wants to do calligraphy for free!

Use labels if that is what you can afford. Do calligraphy if you can afford it if not stick with labels. Etiquette states to use calligraphy but the way I see it is what you can afford. I would not put myself out of the way to do something if I cannot afford it no matter what etiquette say.

I agree. I'm just going to print right on the envelopes. Labels tend to be frustrating for me.
