I say who cares. I did read in one of the bridal mags the other day that lables give the invite the look of 'junk mail'. Whatever. If you use a big, clear label with a pretty font it won't look like junk mail. If you have the time, print right on the envelope.

Re: Labels a No No???
I'm using clear labels... IMO who decides whats a No, No and etiquette.. blah blah blah. I think Calligraphy is a waste of my money and rather just do clear labels.
I am sure my ettiquette was out the window with the DJ Give aways I am having, the shot glasses and liquor bottle for favors. My shot glasses says: 'I went to S*** & L*** and al I got was this lousy shot glass'- Not classy at all.
So if you dont mind the labels and like them than go that route, if its going to drive you crazy then send them off to a Calligrapher. Do what makes you happy not what some book says or other people believe.

Use labels if that is what you can afford. Do calligraphy if you can afford it if not stick with labels. Etiquette states to use calligraphy but the way I see it is what you can afford. I would not put myself out of the way to do something if I cannot afford it no matter what etiquette say.
I agree. I'm just going to print right on the envelopes. Labels tend to be frustrating for me.
I agree. That's what I did.

I think its OK. I wouldn't be offended if someone didn't want to spend a fortune for calligraphy. Calligraphy is very hard to learn BTW. I've taken several classes and I still suck.
I just got a wedding invitiation that looks like a 4 year old addresed it with a magic marker. At least labels look nicer than that.
Very true Calligraphy is hard to learn and frustrating so becareful if you are going to go this route - you dont want it to look sloppy and you prob. be better off taking it to a professional.

Are you using labels? I heard that it's wrong to do labels. Is this true?
I'm thinking of handwriting my addresses.
Edit: I thought it'd be fun to learn calligraphy.
I actually just bought a calligraphy workbook at Border's for 10 bucks. I learned a loooong time ago in High School, so I just need some practice before I attempt to do it on the invites. Try it out! could be fun... and definitely cheaper than the other options!
Edit: I actually used a really pretty, colored font on clear labels for my engagement party invitations, and they came out really nice. So, if I learn I'm not the world's best calligrapher, I'll use the labels instead.

Labels are fine for save the dates, but it is more classy to have the address printed directly on your envelopes, either by computer or by handwriting them. I give you credit for wanting to handwrite them, but that's a lot of work, especially when the computer prints them out beautifully. Hint: Use Edwardian Script font- it looks great!!

Re: Labels a No No???
Although I used them for my STD and thought they came out GREAT, I do not think that I would want to use them on the wedding invites. However, it really depends on how formal the wedding and the invites are. If they are not very formal then go for it. We used clear labels and the Lucinda caligraphy (Sp) font and they looked nice.

I was going to use clear labels - I type more than I write and Noogie has a better handwriting than I do. If I had to actually write out 170 envelopes - I'll most likely realize by the time I'm done I fudged up big time somewhere. I know that for the thankies I should handwrite just to keep it more personalized.
