How does everyone feel about going to a wedding on Labor day. Do you think it is a bad idea?

I dont think that it is a problem, just be sure to leave plenty of time to deal with extra traffic.

Re: Labor day...
IMO, and we've been to many holiday weekend weddings, I don't like them at all. Being that I work at a company that gives us very few holidays (we don't get Presidents Day, etc.), the three-day weekends such as Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day, I want to do what I want to do like go away or just hang at the beach and do nothing. Also I've had to travel for 2 of them and it was a nightmare = expensive, busy at the airport, etc. Just my opinion though. But on the flipside, having been a bride myself, I hear its cheaper to have a wedding on a holiday weekend, and so I can understand people wanting to get married then (among other reasons).

Re: Labor day...
Well I am a labor day bride... Saturday of this Labor Day Weekend...
1. Plan your wedding for you! The close people in your life will travel to the moon for you!
2. I didn't save to have it that weekend
3. We picked that day because it is my grandparents 55th wedding anniversery and it is a special day for the 4 of us now! (plus we are doing several surprise things for them! )
Good luck planning!

Re: Labor day...
I am going to say there is a big difference in getting married on the Friday, saturday, or sunday of labor day weekend, as opposed to actual labor day. If it was earlier in the day on Monday, say noon..i think it would be easier. Traveling is going to be hard, and lot of people would have to take off the tuesday, just to be safe....is there anything you can do on the sunday night before? Thats what i'm doing and i am so happy. jackie....we have it easy. hers will be on monday.

Re: Labor day...
I think it would be fine for me. Personally I'd like to spend my labor day at a wedding. Maybe you should just send out save the date cards a little bit earlier to give people notice.

No different than a Sunday.
Than again, because my FH is a resident and never gets vacations or full weekends, we never go away anyways. So, I may be the wrong person to ask.

Re: Labor day...
I just don't want to inconvenience anyone. But if they want to come and share this special moment with us then those people will who are truly our friends will attend. I am planning to send STD cards after this labor day.

Re: Labor day...
I am a labor day monday bride. We are starting our ceremony at noon. I wanted to get married in September and at The Vineyard this was one of only two choice, Labor day or Sept 11. For me, Labor Day was a better option.
Most people seem happy with it being on the Monday (or so they tell me) because those from LI can go away til Sunday night and still make it to my wedding.
We have been to a wedding on Memorial Day Monday and that worked out fine.

Re: Labor day...
i'm a labor day weekend bride and i chose this date b/c it was convenient for fh and myself. we also thought it would be easier for close family and friends to attend since most people have it off.
if people would rather not come to your wedding just b/c it's a holiday, oh well... who cares?

Re: Labor day...
My SIL is getting married on the Friday of this labor day weekend ( sept. 2) I don't think its that big of a deal .. only if people dont have off Friday ( esp. since they already have off on Monday) and her ceremony is at 3 pm and I have a feeling many people wont be able to make it to the church.
The only thing I find REALLY annoying about it is that her mother is having her shower on the sunday of Memorial day weekend. It's like give me a break already!!!
Oh and she only got a discount at the hall b/c she booked with only 10 months till the wedding. She didnt get a discount b/c it was a holiday weekend.
