Hi ladies... I'm new here - and well not engaged YET! LOL i read these boards all the time, and I think you are ALL so awesome for helping eachother out!
I know that the engagement will happen soon, (it better) LOLOL hopefully before the end of this year! I have been with my BF for almost 4 years, and basically he is the type to get all of his ducks in a row before making the next step... well all is good, he bought his house and Im pretty sure it will happen soon!
Anyway - we have discussed our wedding and when the time comes I don't want to be a crazy bridezilla! I'm not like that anyway, just sayin... i know how weddings cause so much stress!
This will be my second wedding, his first -
If we can make this happen, I am planning on the end of 2011 -
We obviously want amazing food, great music and overall a beautiful and simple wedding!
As far as the guest list - I am planning on 100 - 125 people TOPS! basically family and close friends -
We probably will not get married in a church, so therefore need a reception hall with a nice ceremony room -
My top choice is Russos on the bay - EEK i know they are insanely expensive, but food is important to me, and Im not really sure who else will compare that's affordable? I also heard that the Inn an New Hyde Park is great, but $$$$$
Bottom line, we are Italian, with italian families and need some great Italian food!
My ideal budget is..... (dont laugh) .... approx $100 per head - I know thats ridiculously LOW these days, but we will be paying for everything ourselves and need to make it affordable.
I would love something like Thanksgiving weekend, or the first weekend in December -
I would consider a Friday or a Sunday if I had to - I also want to go with the whole 'winter wonderland' theme - so a place decorated for christmas would be awesome!
I guess my question is - is this Do-Able or am I dreaming??? Are catering halls negotiable these days or not so much?
I did see the 2011 RH price thread - but wondering if anyone has gotten additional quotes for Nov/Dec 2011
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you girls!
Anna

If you want Russo's then go with Vetro which is down the block...holds less people and same great food and service

If you are looking for a one wedding at a time place then you are prob looking at a sun or friday. north ritz is one, the vanderbilt at dowling, bourne mansion, majestic gardens, de seversky, lands end. You might also wanna try villa lombardis, and all the lombardis locations.
I was going to suggest De Seversky but they are definitely over $100 pp and they told me the time of the year doesn't change the price. You CAN get a deal if you book a cancellation or a date less than 8 months away since that's when they are going to try to fill in dates!
The place is gorgeous

If you have your heart set on Russo's you should go in and talk to them. You never know if they have a date they want to get rid of, or maybe a party that recently cancelled. I think it is worth a try. Tell them your budget and see what they can do for you. Best of Luck!

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
The owners of Russo's on the Bay just built a new venue called VETRO on the bay... I just went to a 50th Anniversary there... the food was delicious, but like nic2011 said - the place only holds 100... could this work for you? It was very pretty as well.
IMO you are probably not going to get Russo's under $100 a head... but I could be wrong! Late Nov and Dec prices are usually lower at most venues so I am sure you will find a perfect place within your budget.
Food was the most important for me and my FH and we booked at Westbury Manor because our taste testing was amazing! I have quotes for Nov 2011if you want to FM me
Good Luck, I hope he pops the question soon

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
Hey thanks! Does Vetro charge as much as Russo's??? My BF lives right down the block from Vetro's - I have seen it and heard that its awesome! I think 100 can be do-able....
Someone on here i saw said that Vetro has a tiny cocktail hour room???
Ill have to check it out

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
THE INN AT NEW HYDE PARK ALLL THE WAY....by the sound of it you sound like a PERFECT fit!!! They are $$$ but not for a Sunday wedding...are you looking to pay 100$ overall (w/ tax and gratuities) pp or $100 before tax and grat? I got a great deal at the Inn at new hyde park for a friday night in may 2012 and they threw some stuff in but everyone they deal with is different im sure but no harm in asking! ..and in winter I saw picture and they set it up BEAUTIFULLY with Christmas trees and poinsettas(not sure if spelt right) everywhere ...tell me what you think and FM if you have anymore questions HTH

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
As the girls have said nothing is impossible.
My younger son and DIL had their wedding at Russo's in September 2007. When we went to Russo's fo a consultation Nina was a little unsure if we could have the wedding there or not because of price. Well the BM suggested that they get married on an off day like Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day etc. After some discussion between her and I Nina picked Labor Day and the total cost pp was $115 which is outstanding for Russo's. The wedding was fabulous!
Give it a try and good luck
Liz
P.S. We are a big Italian family too and my DIL is 1/2 German and 1/2 Puerto Rican so you know the food was very important to us.

I believe Vetro is slightly highier than Russo's, however they might be willing to bring down the price if they want to book dates.

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
Welcome!! Let us know when it happens
The good thing about a Nov/Dec wedding is that, for the most part, catering halls charge less than during the regular 'wedding season', so this might help. I would just say to hop catering halls and book appointments to see which ones suit your needs best. When you call to make appointments, tell them your price range and ask that they can first accommodate that. Shoot for lower...so if you wanna spend 100 per head, say your range is $70-$90. Then, if they can't fit into that category, don't waste your time going to see them. Hope this helps.

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
you sound like me :) I'm not officially engaged yet either but we picked a date in 2012 lol. same amount of people too. and we are both Italian too :)
anyway you should go check out douglaston manor, leonards, fox hollow, jericho terrace, floral park terrace, chateau briand, swan club, and those are all I can think of right now and will all not be crazy $$$ esp in Nov/Dec. you probably won't even need a fri/sun night either. you can probably have sat for not that much money. I actually had wanted winter just because it's so much less $$ but we're going with Oct instead for hopefully warmer weather. plus it's between our bdays and we want every year to go away for anniversary, my bday and his bday all combined

Re: Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?
NRC for friday or sunday night in the fall of 2011 is 110++. so it ends ups being around 140 pp in the end. saturday night was much much higher. the earlier you book the better deal you'll get at most places (2012 bride did well!!!).
