Ladies help! Possible 2011 wedding?

Hi ladies... I'm new here - and well not engaged YET! LOL i read these boards all the time, and I think you are ALL so awesome for helping eachother out!

I know that the engagement will happen soon, (it better) LOLOL
hopefully before the end of this year! I have been with my BF for almost 4 years, and basically he is the type to get all of his ducks in a row before making the next step... well all is good, he bought his house and Im pretty sure it will happen soon!

Anyway - we have discussed our wedding and when the time comes I don't want to be a crazy bridezilla! I'm not like that anyway, just sayin... i know how weddings cause so much stress!

This will be my second wedding, his first -

If we can make this happen, I am planning on the end of 2011 -

We obviously want amazing food, great music and overall a beautiful and simple wedding!

As far as the guest list - I am planning on 100 - 125 people TOPS! basically family and close friends -

We probably will not get married in a church, so therefore need a reception hall with a nice ceremony room -

My top choice is Russos on the bay - EEK i know they are insanely expensive, but food is important to me, and Im not really sure who else will compare that's affordable? I also heard that the Inn an New Hyde Park is great, but $$$$$

Bottom line, we are Italian, with italian families and need some great Italian food!

My ideal budget is..... (dont laugh) .... approx $100 per head - I know thats ridiculously LOW these days, but we will be paying for everything ourselves and need to make it affordable.

I would love something like Thanksgiving weekend, or the first weekend in December -

I would consider a Friday or a Sunday if I had to - I also want to go with the whole 'winter wonderland' theme - so a place decorated for christmas would be awesome!

I guess my question is - is this Do-Able or am I dreaming???
Are catering halls negotiable these days or not so much?

I did see the 2011 RH price thread - but wondering if anyone has gotten additional quotes for Nov/Dec 2011

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you girls!

Anna

I think anything is possible if your willing to work hard at it. I've gotten quotes from various places ranging from 75 pp to 165 pp and negotications are always possible. The good thing is that your flexable with dates, which helps alot! My wedding is in 2013 so i can't give you any specific quotes.

Also, think of a lot of DIY stuff to save on $. Invites, centerpieces, etc etc.

well almost congrats lol...

Westbury Manor or Floral Terrace I think will be more in the price range for $100 (including tax & tip)...

if you use the Search Feature
there was a thread recently about the cost per person for many of the RH's in NY and what time of year it was...

Good Luck!

Well... there are MANY amazing catering halls that you will be able to get for under $100 pp (before tax/gratuity) especially on a Sunday in November/December- prices are much lower. It's very doable. We personally just got married at Jericho Terrace and I think it might've been the best meal I've ever eaten. I wish they had a restaurant so we could just go there to eat anytime.

Buttttttt......... what does your soon-to-be fiance like? I don't know your business, but it's his wedding, too, and his first. I'd personally wait until he pops the question and then cruise the list of RH's on this site. It lists the average cost pp for each site so you can narrow it down together.

HTH!

ETA: Our cost pp was under $100 and that was for a Friday night in May.

Thanks! Future Fiance is just like me, food is important - but he is so stubborn LOL he is all about Russo's LOL he doesn't think there are any catering halls better than Russo's in the area....

Im a Nassau girl, he's a Queens boy - so he hasn't been to many halls around here -

I definately need backup plans because I just know how expensive that place is

russo's min. is 175 - but you can usually talk them down to 150.

they have a new place but it only holds 100 max.

look at villa lombardis...also, i agree with WM during the holiday time my bff did it and it was awesome with how it was lit up.

EEEEK yea Im thinkin Russos is outta my league! I def can't meet the minimum and well, it's just too $$$$

I remember seeing a post that some girl was quoted $105 per person for a friday!

Welcome and hopefully soon to be congrats!

You should definately be able to fall in that price range and that head count for that time of year, start calling different RH's tell them what you're looking for. A lot of RH's gave me price quotes and minimums over the phone.

I agree with Ren...Fox Hollow all the way (especially for italian food!) If not there, try chateau briand (another scotto brothers restaurant)

That can happen anywhere!!!!!! Even the most expensive of venues are not immune to this!!! Did you ever go to chateau briand it is very russos on the bay, they have a dance floor that you can come up from in one of their rooms. If you are looking for a one wedding at a time place then you are prob looking at a sun or friday. north ritz is one, the vanderbilt at dowling, bourne mansion, majestic gardens, de seversky, lands end. You might also wanna try villa lombardis, and all the lombardis locations.
