Ladies who are married (and brides to be)

Ladies who are married (and brides to be)

Within the whole planning process, when you thought about your wedding day, could you actually picture it? Like could you see yourself in your dress with your hair and make-up done? could you see yourself dancing with your DH in the reception hall? When I think about this, it feels so weird... like i can't beileve it's actually going to happen.

this might be a silly quesiotn, but i've been hitting the bottle today.

ETS anyone can answer!! i don't hate! lol

I am obviously not married, but I picture this all the time! More the partying than me in the dress all done up.

i have had these thoughts so many times....i very very recently can kind of picture this....i had a tough time doing that though for a while...not sure why, but i guess it just seemed kind of surreal to invision myself as 'the bride'

ETA>>>>sorry i am not married yet, just wanted you to know you are not alone

i guess i should change the headline or reword it... b/c i want everyone's thoughts, but i was wondering how surreal the moment is when you acutally are living the moment you've been dreaming about since you got engaged.

This is a great question....I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I always had a hard time picture it, but I'm starting to be able to envision it more now that its getting closer.

Like, I can see myself with a huge smile on my face on the dane floor with Joey but it's all in slow motion. I know this is so corny, but at times, it makes me emotional!

I totally hear you on this. in the beginning when i would meet with vendors they would all say 'tell me about the picture you have in your head' you know that one I'm supposed to have had since I was little! The only real thing I guess I've had in my heart/head since i was little is more the FEELING and EMOTIONS of getting married. I do agree though as the days get closer i can envision it more. but yes, it is going to feel COMPLETELY SURREAL for me i think!

i can never fully picture anything important like that before it happens

i got myself hysterical thinking that meant it wasnt going to happen but now i think that its just. . . how i am

i remember when DH and I planned our first vacation - i couldnt picture myself in Aruba with him . . . i called my sister in the middle of the night convinced that the trip was jinxed. ..

even now that its over, i feel like i cant fully remember it. . . how it was - it was all 'dreamy' and foggy . . .

That moment will go by quickly, so my advice is after the ceremony, take a minute or two just to drink it all in. Look around, look at your husband's face, look at your mom's face.
Do the same thing at the reception. Look at the reception room before your guests come in, to see that all of your planning and stress really paid off.
Then at one point during the reception, grab your husband's hand and just look at him. Look at everyone around you. Steal away with your husband for a minute so you can have a private moment.

When DH and I had our first dance, we didn't hear anyone, we didn't see anyone, it was just the two of us.

Enjoy the moments, and enjoy your day.
Remember that there are certain things that you cannot control, and if something does go wrong, well, whatever.
Don't stress on your day, just feel beautiful.

right, I've always had a vision of what I wanted, but no where inthat vision did I ever see myself in my dress or dancing with my husband. now that the daay is fast approaching, i feel like all the little pieces are falling into place when i envision it i see both FH and i, totally dressed up and enjoying our day. ti's so weird

I totally know what you mean.... I had my final fitting last night, and my dress is all altered and fits me perfectly, had the veil on, and started picturing myself walking down the aisle...started to get a little emotional. I think it will be totally surreal though

No - more Alfonse and I in our new home.

I can't wait for that.

I REALLY can't wait for him to take out the garbage and the recyclables. I have to do it at my mom's house and I HATE it.

wow, that was beautiful. I have tears in my eyes. i promised myself that I would never let this planning stress me out or get the best of me and so far, so good.

but thank you for that. It really gave me goosebumps!

i never had a vision of what it would be like, even after all the planning, buying the dresses, picking the flowers. i tried to, but would just draw a blank. i think i was more concerned about people showing up and having a good time. it wasn't until the day of, while having my hair and make up done, that i got my first real visualization of what everything was going to be like. i actually think it was right after the bo-ks arrived. that's also when everything just hit - that i was getting married in 3 hours!!

that's another good one. I hope those are the visions that come next!

i'm thinking the same happens with all major milestones in our lives. right now, i can't picture myself ever being pregnant. hopefully that will cahnge!

Re: Ladies who are married (and brides to be)

I can picture my bridal party all done up and dressed, FH in a tux, my mom in her dress, everything - except me, lol. I don't know what it is but I cannot for the life of me picture myself with makeup done, hair done and in my wedding dress. Weird I guess..

Re: Ladies who are married (and brides to be)

Good question.

My whole life, I've had trouble picturing my wedding day and reception. And now that I'm actually getting married, I still cannot really picture anything - except one thing, and it's the most important thing.

Really the only things I can picture is me in my wedding dress and veil... walking down the aisle looking at my fiance's face and saying I DO. I can't picture the people, the flowers, even my family.

And as for the reception, I only see he and I, eating together, laughing, dancing, holding hands - as if no one else is there.

YIKES! Where are the flowers? What colors? Where are all the people? Ha, sorry this sounds crazy, but it's scary when you really can't picture all the big things.
