The Hyatt is absolutely gorgeous..FH and I were there last New Year's Eve! Also, the Radisson is pretty nice...and less expensive then the Hyatt (but not by much)! Key West is so much fun! My BF is getting married in Islamorada in November and we are already planning a girls night out in Key West...guys will drive us and pick us up...pretty funny!

Heather - there are so many AWESOME intimate B&B's. I would have her look into those. There is one hotel right on Duval Street, Crowne Plaza La Concha, that I've heard you SHOULDN'T stay there - total spring break atmosphere and not nice. But then again, it is literally the best location possible for Key West....depends what she wants.

I think the Hyatt is beautiful - havent stayed there - but awesome location and gorgeous. I think it was recently redone too...I'd tell her to check that out. I think it's $$$ though...

FH booked the Hyatt and when I found out how much it was going to cost us I got a little nervous. I just think that I'm going to feel guilty after the HM is over for spending that much money on it. So I've been trying to look up other places that are 'name brand' so to speak cause he won't stay in a B&B (which is where I stayed last time I went with my friend). The Hyatt has the perfect location and it is incredibly beautiful but I'm cheap, lol. I'll have to look up some more stuff and talk to him about it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll be brining it up to FH!

here's the info from my friend...her exact email:

Key West info: We stayed at La Concha Crown Plaza (www.laconchakeywest.com). It's location was great: walking distance to all the stuff we wanted to do, 4 steps from Margaritaville (I was with the friend who I always go out for margaritas with, so it was very appropriate). Another place we had considered turned out to be on the other side of the island, so we were glad we chose that place. They celebrate the sunset every night (sounds hokey, and sort of is but it's also pretty fun), and this hotel, at a whopping 8 floors, is the highest building on the island, so it makes for a good view. We found it on priceline, but we had also looked at site59.com. We couldn't book it through site59 because we wanted to stay an extra day and they didn't offer any packages that lasted that long.

The hotel was nice; sort of resort-ish, had a very
small pool with a poolside bar, and a restaurant. It
was a little pricey, but I don't actually remember
what it cost because it was part of a package (airfare and hotel). I liked the hotel, and the staff was really nice. And like I said, I thought the location was great.

We stayed at the Ambrosia 2 it's right off Duval, close enough to walk to the fun yet private enough, we loved it! We went 2 years ago for FH's cousin's wedding. We saw a few different places there, where others stayed and all were really nice, the Bride & Groom stayed at this fab, place where they had their own private in ground pool with their suite....

Mmmmmm.... private inground pool......

Re: Ladies who have gone to KEY WEST.....ArmyOfBabires need HM help

HA HA yeah i am the KW expert!!

We actually rented a house about 20 minutes away and drove in every night BUT for our first anniversary we are staying here:

Key West Cottages

Click on 'Check Availability for All Units'

Now I am not sure what you want to spend BUT we know we will save money at these places because they have little kitchens. So, the first day we are going to get groceries and make breakfast every morning, pack picnic lunches, make our own midnight snacks AND start drinking there. Our goal is to only go out to eat for dinner ( ha ha who knows how this will work ). I checked for November 2007 and the prices start at $98 but then go all the way up to over $400 depending on which place you pick

They are actually little cottages spread out around KW - some have decks, bbqs and hot tubs. You have access to the main pool area AND they accept pets (( Brutus is coming with us LOL))

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions!!!

i think it was either southernmost hotel, or south beach hotel - not sure, but i stayed there yeeeears ago. it was right on the water, off the beginning of duval, and at night we could hear the waves crash on the shore - that alone made it my favorite 'hotel' experience. small & on the rustic side, but you can hear the water from your bed!

don't miss sloppy joe's & conch republic! good eats!

xoxo
