Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I just started looking at reception places and think I have narrowed it down to Lands End and Flowerfield. There are pros and cons to both and we need to go back for another look. We are planning for a December 2003 weddings. For those of you who chose one or the other, what were some of the things that influenced your decision?

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

We're having our wedding at Lands End on 4/27. One consideration was that we wanted to be on the water. Flowerfield has absolutely beautiful grounds, and it has the lake, but not the great expanse of ocean (bay) that Lands End has. They're both amazing options - you really can't go wrong with either one. In the end, Flowerfield was booked so that wan't a choice for us, but it was also more expensive than LE (about $20pp+). What are your pros and cons?

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I had my reception at Land`s End on 11/17/01. Both places are run by Lovin Ovens, so I can assure you that both will offer a fabulous event. I have never been to Flowerfields, but I hear it is amazing. Land`s End is really pretty. For Land`s End, if you like it for the view, remember that in December, it will be dark at night, so the view will be limited and I don`t know what the landscaping will be like. I had my reception during the day, so we still had daylight and the view was breathtaking (luckily, we had a 55 degree day as well). The food and service were out of this world, everyone raved about it. They add nice little touches (such as champagne glasses with a strawberry in it). Regardless of where you pick, December is a great time of year because it will be decorated for Christmas, which always looks pretty.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I am getting married at Flowerfield in April, and and I agree with the Lands End Brides, the ocean is a selling point there, but only if you can see it in daylight i think, the caterer is great and the same at both..i saw flowerfield decorated in December, and it was beautiful...of course i am partial to them!

my opinion

I got married at Flowerfield in October -- and it was incredible ! Bith places are wonderful -- and like the other girl said both run by lovin oven -- so you cant go wrong with either! They do a perfect job ! The one thing I can tell you is Flowerfield is gorgeous at xmas time! They point poinsettias everywhere and have the white twinkle lights.. It is like a winter wonderland! Good luck !

Flowerfield

My aunt/uncle had there wedding at Flowerfield last Feb. and it was absolutely beautiful. (In fact I had looked into having mine there as well but we are not having as many people). I don''t know what Lands End looks like inside but at Flowerfield when you first walk in it is breathtaking with the bridge over the pond, it was almost like being outside minus the snow and cold. I had an excellent time there and the food and service were wonderful.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I was lucky to see both places in January when they were still decorated for Christmas. They both were very tastefully done and beautiful. Given that the wedding will be in December, the ocean view at Lands End won`t be visible- dark probably by 5 pm. That`s one thing I liked better about Flowerfield, the windows behind us will look out on the grounds all lighted up, whereas you won`t see anything at Land`s End. However, I liked the coziness aspect of Lands End more so than Flowerfield, as well as the cocktail area and the Cigar Lounge right off the ballroom. The ballroom at Flowerfield is bigger and I just like the set up better with 2 bars, etc. However, the drawbacks are I don`t like the cocktail area as much, seems very summery for a winter wedding. Also, they have a gorgeous Cigar Lounge too but far so far away from the ballroom, I feel like it won`t get used. I can`t believe this is only my first decision- I am overwhelmed already. Thanks for all of your input. This board has been great.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I also was deciding between both. I picked Land`s End for this July because of the water and also the feel of the whole place. I felt that the rooms at Land`s End flowed together nicely from the cocktail hour room to the ballroom. One other thing to be aware of is that Flowerfields just sold off part of their land to be developed into condos (at least I was told this by 2 diff people, 1 is a bride who is having her wedding there in June). I don`t know that much about it, I think that the deal went through a couple of weeks ago, but it is definitely something to ask about, especially where on their land the construction will take place and when. I know that I don`t post that often, but I read the boards a lot to get advice since I am the first of my friends and family to get married. I hope this is just a rumor, but thought I would pass it along anyway so that people could ask about it.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I visited both Lands End and Flowerfield around Christmas time last year. I agree that Flowerfield is decorated beautifully for Christmas but it is difficult to see the beauty of the grounds if there is snow on the ground (they were covered one of the times I visited) but if there isn't, the view from the main room is really pretty. On the other hand, Lands End was really cozy, especially with all of the fireplaces. The wood floors warm it up too. Lands End is also less expensive. Tough decision. I loved both but ended up not booking either - a little too expensive for us - and went with a small venue (Sans Souci of Sea Cliff). Good luck deciding! I think you'll be very happy with either one.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I've been to two weddings at Lands End, and two at Flowerfield... one was my own.. I am biased... Lands End is very nice but Flowerfield is a few notches better.. you pay a more for Flowerfield.. there are a few more nicer menu choices, the cocktail room is amazing, I think the ballroom is nices, the layout is better, the service is impecable, they do not valet at Lands End. I personally fell in love with Flowerfield. I was lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny 70 degree day.. but I was a realist.. Flowerfield is beautiful rain or shine.. I was at a wedding at Lands End on a miserable rainy day.. it was kind of dreary.. Just my 2 cents.

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

I had my wedding at Flowerfield last July, and my experience was every bit the fairy tale that I hoped it would be. In response to the original poster who was concerned that the cigar bar wouldn't be used, DON'T WORRY! As soon as the DJ announced that it was open, 50 men almost knocked each other over to get there! It was such a big hit with my guests! As far as service, it is impeccable at both places, and to my knowledge (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the outrageous food is the same. However, and not to knock Lands End, which I think is a fantastic place to hold a wedding, Lovin' Ovens themselves has printed (I think on their website, but I'm not 100% sure of where I read it)that Flowerfield is their more upscale establishment, and I think that shows in some subtle ways. For example, Flowerfield has valet parking, while Lands End doesn't offer that. A big deal? Not really, but it may matter to some people, and could possibly be a selling point, as is the ocean view at Land's End. In the end,I doubt you'd be disappointed with either place. Good luck, and if you have any questions aboutFlowerfield, I'd be more than happy to help you! : )

valet and lands end

its not even an issue...I'm sure if the parking situation was different that they would have valet, but the parking lot is really an ideal location and all you need to do is park and walk 10 feet...the same thing as other valet services... I think the food is the same...I know the vanderbilt (also lovin oven has an upgradeable menu of what I am getting) going for my tasting on 3/16 - so excited!! I think any lovin oven establishment you go to (200 5th club, vanderbilt mansion, etc) will be excellent...what you need to decide is the scene and the price... good luck and happy planning

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

My fiance and I narrowed it down to Lands End and Flowerfield as well. Lands End actually quoted a more expensive price at first. Then we got both places to quote the same price. My fiance loved the water view at Lands End, but there was just something about Flowerfield that I couldnt pass up. Both places are so beautiful, it is just a difficult choice. We booked Flowerfield because we are having the ceremony there. The cocktail hour room is so fabulous that even if I have to have the ceremony inside I will still feel like I am outside. I also felt that Lands End had a more masculine look to it. I liked the charm of Flowerfield's Ball Room better. Whichever hall you choose your wedding will be amazing. I looked at about 15 halls and nothing compares to these two! Good Luck!

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

My sister had her wedding at Lands End and it was fabulous! I looked at Flowerfield yesterday for my wedding and loved the cocktail room. I like the ballroom at Lands End a little better, but the grounds at Flowerfields are prettier. Lands End also has the water!

Lands End vs. Flowerfield

Does anyone have anymore information about Flowerfield selling part of their property to build condos? I am thinking of having my wedding there and am very concerned when this would happen. My wedding is not until June of 2004
