Just wondering who has had it and if you have any feedback on it. In the process of seeing if this is the right choice for me and what doctor to see. Please feel free to FM me. Thanks!

Re: Lap Band Surgery
I am a PA and work with bariatric surgeons that do the lap band and gastric bypass so I see a lot of those patients. There are many factors that contribute to being a candidate or not. I can give you the names of the surgeons and answer any questions that you may have in particular about it. FM me for more info :)

Re: Lap Band Surgery
My FH is having surgery next week!!!! its not the lap band though..and its not the gastric bypass... Its called the sleeve. They do cut a portion of your stomache out but theres no need for any 'bypassing' of any intestines.. its also less evasive and done lapriscopically. Fm Me and i can try to get you more details.. he started off by going to a seminar at Lenox Hill

Re: Lap Band Surgery
I've looked into it, but apparently I'm not heavy enough. Which is really frustrating because I'm about 75 lbs overweight and every attempt at a diet has gotten me nowhere.
Look into the Bariatric Clinic at St. Charles. I heard they are great over there.
Good luck.

Re: Lap Band Surgery
I have a very good friend who had the lap band surgery 2 years ago. He has not lost the weight he wanted to and has had disappointing results, mainly due to his own habits. He also didn't go for regular tightening.
A close relative of mine had the gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago. Her results have been nothing short of amazing! She has gone from a size 22 to a size 2 or 4. She feels incredible and looks incredible. She is lucky though and hasn't had any negative side effects. Really the only thing she has to watch is how much sugar she eats. She also eats much smaller portions. It was not an easy surgery to go through and recovery was slow and painful.
