Las VEgas?

Las VEgas?

Ok so we are thinking of going to Vegas for our honeymoon. It's a toss up between there or FL-to Disney and Universal Studios deal, but we are afraid that being the summer, Florida will be PACKED with families. So we are elaning towards Vegas. (if anyone has an opinion, feel free to offer it)

SO I don't know Vegas at all. We are not gamblers but we'd like to be close to the strip for the convenience of walking. If the hotels are nicer OFF the strip, however, that is mroe than fine too. We want to see the Grand Canyon anyway.

So ladies, anyone know the names of nice hotels in Vegas? Thanks!

The Wynn and the Bellagio are the nicest in my opinion. I have stayed at both and prefer the Bellagio. I have also stayed at the Mirage and think it's fine too.

There are very nice hotels on the strip. My favorites are the Wynn, the Bellagio, and the Venetian. (i like the bellagio hotel and rooms the best) Vegas offers a lot if you're not into gambling. Their cirque du soleil shows are a must, theyre all good. Theres shopping, they have awesome clubs/lounges and unbelievable restaurants. They also have a shopping mall/outlet not too far from the strip too.

I know the Bellagio is MOOCHA moola. Does anyone know how to book deals without going through a travel agent? Thanks again.

Oh-about Mandalay Bay: Is that a hotel better suited for singles? I have seen a few sketchy reviews and it worries me. I do not want to be made to feel uncomfotable because someone wnats to hook up with me or the FH-thats why we usually go to adults only/couples places like we did in cancun. Thanks!

I reccomend you sign up to receive Bellagio emails and promotions on their website. I always get emails and promotions to stay there for $149 a night. Otherwise its $450+ a night. Maybe the promotion will fall on the dates you both want to travel.

We went about 2 years ago and stayed at Mandalay Bay...But not in the main hotel. We stayed in the part called 'THE Hotel'. It was great and we really enjoyed it. The top few floors are the 4 seasons. We met the guys from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition there!!

If you are looking for a less expensive hotel The Mirage is nice and is center strip the Flamingo is also decent with a great location and an awesome pool.

Ive stayed at MGM and the Luxor, my only complaint was that they were at the end of the strip. I would try to get a hotel in the middle of the strip.

The Bellagio and Wynn are beautiful. As is Mandalay Bay, which has a separate hotel called THE hotel. The Venetian is also lovely. You can also check out the Red Rock Canyon Resort and The Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa--both are off the strip, which is great because it offers your the convenience of being close but also the quietness of the spa atmosphere.

As for things to do--there are PLENTY! Take a day trip to Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam, see the Fremont Street Experience, tons of shows, check out all the casinos because they always have exhibits and stuff going on, plenty of shopping, skydiving, indoor skydiving, spas, go RVing, go to Lake Mead, visit the Bonnie and Clyde Museum, go race cars at the Mario Andretti racing place, take a drive to the Old Las Vegas towns and ghost towns, gondola ride on Lake Las Vegas, go golfing and take in all the restaurants and nightlife.

I loved the Flamingo pool--we would leave our hotel and go to that one instead!

Re: Las VEgas?

We've been quite a few times and here's what I would recommend:

If you're going for your honeymoon, DEFINITELY stay on the strip. It's most convenient and you don't have to worry about paying for cabs or waiting for shuttles etc.

The nicest hotels, in my opinion, are THEHotel at Mandalay Bay (it's their newer tower with all suites rooms - bedroom with master bath, living room with wetbar, and a half bath - it's all modern style furnishings etc), the Wynn (extremely comfy bed, gorgeous rooms etc), or Bellagio. We also stayed at Paris and it was nice but we hated the constant congestion in the lobby/casino area. And the Palms is very nice but it's off the strip (about 2 miles away) and is a very young crowd type of atmosphere - I'd stay on the strip but make a trip or two out to Palms at night (definitely go to GhostBar and maybe even Rain nightclub).

Other nice hotels that I've been in are Mirage and Treasure Island. Also, MGM just opened up a new tower called the Signature and those rooms are all suites too and they look really pretty so its worth a look.

There's a ton of stuff to do. Our favorite show was O at the Bellagio. We really liked Avenue Q at the Wynn but heard it's not playing there anymore. You can walk through all the hotels, go to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, there's fun stuff at the Venetian like the indoor or outdoor gondola rides. We took the trip out to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon one day and we LOVED IT. It was an ALLLLLL day thing - like 6am to 9pm or something like that, but it was so worth it.

I think you'll have a GREAT time out there on your honeymoon!!!

We just decided on Vegas as well for our HM - I have stayed at the man. bay before and it was really nice! Do a Google search on vegas and you will see there is so much to do - you can even get some discounts on the shows that are available

Good Luck!

FH & I have gone to vegas several times. 3 yrs ago we stayed in Mandalay Bay & we loved it!!!
They have a fantastic man-made beach ans lazy river. We couldn't get enough of it. We had such a good time that honestly if there were only singles I didn't even notice. The only thing is that it is off the strip and they recently built a monorail that helps you to get arounda little easier.
My favorites are the Bellagio, Venitian, Wynn, & Mandalay Bay
