Las Vegas Wedding

Original post by amandah75

So we are considering a Las Vegas wedding! Prices are awesome and think it would be fun to get the family out there and sin it up for a weekend. Anyone know someone who was married in Vegas? Any thoughts and/or suggestions? We are looking at the Bellagio packages but would welcome other suggestions. Figure we'll do that and then have an informal reception back here in NY so we get our glitzy wedding and a reception that we can afford. Really don't want to lose my date. Love my date. Even better we'll see if we can change the date with the photog so we have a record of the reception in NY and we won't lose our deposit.

yeah i would def do excalibur over circus circus... basically one thing i felt was important was to be on the strip, preferably towards the middle

Right now it's Bellagio, Stratosphere and Excalibur. Didn't feel like Treasure Island had that great of a package. One thing I liked about Stratosphere is they give you a butler and a DOC so that you are almost certain to have everything go smoothly. Not sure how FH will feel about the Chapel area though. Any other suggestions?

Just be forewarned Stratosphere is further down the strip. :)

Ok. i'll have to find a layout of the strip and see what's what. love doing research but it's also scary planning a wedding without physically being able to see everything.

You wouldn't be able to walk to the other hotels from Stratosphere. You'd have to take a cab. I've been to Vegas 3 times, and my friend lived there for 5 years. I HIGHLY recommend going there first and checking things out. Prices to go there are pretty low right now because of the airline fares. My friend is going there in Feb for a wedding (I'll let you know how it goes and where), and she's only paying $400 per person for 5 days!

Here is a map of the strip:

(I didn't post cause its really big). Please FM if you have any questions.

I love vegas! I have been there a couple of times. I think the bellagio is nice. The last time I went the Wynn just opened and it was gorgeous also.

Today FH and I sat down and we've narrowed it down to Mandalay, Paris and The Flamingo. We wanted something outside that wouldn't break the bank. While we love the Bellagio, we feel these places offer a lot more for the money. Like some have suggested, we're looking into going there next year to check these places out first hand to see what it's all about. Thanks so much for all of your input.

If you have info on these places please let me know!

Does anyone know if it's an easy walk from Excalibur to the monorail? We want a family friendly place to stay and that seems to be a great one. Thanks!

Re: Las Vegas Wedding

I will ask my sis-in-law the prices they had for the Flamingo. But it was in Oct 2005 though. I am sure the prices have changed. I will try to find out tonite.

Re: Las Vegas Wedding

The Flamingo will most likely be the most reasonably priced of the three, and the grounds are very pretty. Paris is not my favorite, but my friends swear by Mandalay.

Re: Las Vegas Wedding

Right now we are definitely leaning towards the Flamingo. Can't beat the prices, there isn't an upcharge for an outdoor wedding and it's got just the right amount of Las Vegas cheese we were looking for. Will probably be staying at the Excalibur since it's kid friendly. Now I gotta figure out a reception place. Gonna call The Flamingo and find out when I can book everything.
