Las Vegas Wedding

Las Vegas Wedding

So we are considering a Las Vegas wedding! Prices are awesome and think it would be fun to get the family out there and sin it up for a weekend. Anyone know someone who was married in Vegas? Any thoughts and/or suggestions? We are looking at the Bellagio packages but would welcome other suggestions. Figure we'll do that and then have an informal reception back here in NY so we get our glitzy wedding and a reception that we can afford. Really don't want to lose my date. Love my date. Even better we'll see if we can change the date with the photog so we have a record of the reception in NY and we won't lose our deposit.

I say go for it!!! I don't know anyone who got married in Vegas but I have gone to a few destination weddings and have had so much fun. I think they are great. I personally could never do it because the planning from long distance would put me in an early grave!

A girl I went to high school with got married this year in Las Vegas. Her wedding looked really nice.

I thought about this, but my grandmother has never flown and WON'T fly. I was also concerned about family members being able to afford going to Las Vegas. My family and his family have been plagued my layoffs for the past few years.

I think it would be awesome for you, that way you can have the best of both worlds. Is there anyway you could have a really small reception at the Riverview when you got back. I know they are a restaurant also so maybe you could have a little family dinner there!

Amanda, i think thats a great idea

My best friend got married in Vegas, she just did the ceremony there, no reception. On her one year anniversary she had a reception here so that everyone could attend

My uncle got married in Vegas. He married at Caesars. They had the ceremony and cocktail our outside. The only problem was the service. The waitstaff were very slow and the food was okay, but not great.

I think its a good idea because the prices are definitely better. Have you ever been to Vegas before? I'd HIGHLY recommend going out there, talking to people, and seeing the places before making a decision.

The Bellagio is gorgeous. I would also look at the Venetian.

We went to Vegas in April for FH's uncle's wedding, it was so much fun! We went there a few days before to hang out and the night before the wedding all the girls went to see 'thunder from down under' for the bachelorette party at the excalibur while the guys did their own thing, for the bachelor party. They didn't get married at one of the hotels though, they got married at a place called Viva Las Vegas weddings, it was outside in a courtyard type of thing, it was nice and simple which is what they wanted. They had the limo pick up the bride from the hotel she was staying at and brought her to the reception (the groom just brought himself there). then the limo took them both back to the Venetian hotel and we all had dinner at Grand Luxe, there were about 15 of us i would say. it was very nice!

keep me updated on what you end up doing!!

We definitely want immediate family there. My mom got pretty excited when I mentioned vegas. She's always wanted to go. So did my brothers. Think I may have found a winner! I have so many ideas running through my head it's ridiculous. I can't wait!

My brother and sis-in-law got married in Vegas in 2005 at the Flamingo. It was sooooooooooooo beautiful. The grounds were gorgeous for the ceremony, the reception and food was outrageous. We had a great time. You would be surprised how many people will come to your wedding in Vegas. As soon as everyone heard, they started making reservations. Its not only a wedding its a nice vacation too.

Yeah, it's been a while to be honest. We were very anti wedding for a while but this decision is reallly making me happy. figure as long as we do the NY reception within 6 months we should be golden, even if it's in 2011. I just really want my 5/15/10 date if I can.

FH and I love Vegas!! I would have done a Vegas wedding, but some of FH's family are like terrified of flying.

There are soooo many choices in Vegas.
If you want to try something unique and fun. Stratosphere has the Chapel in the Clouds. Weddings are held at the top of the tower. They have a variety of wedding packages.

Holy Crap that's crazy!!!!!!! I'm looking at the Circus Circus website right now and the Excalibur. We're definitely looking for kid friendly since we'll be bringing FHs son and my niece. The weddings are just so darn cheap!

FH's sister got married at the Bellagio in Vegas.

They did everything really really expensive, that's all I know about it. It was definitely beautiful, and everything was really A+++, but it was so not for me.

First of all, I thought alot of it was unorganized. No one really knew where to be at what time, and when you did get there, you weren't sure what to do.

The reception was dinner @ Michael Minas followed by a party in their suite overlooking the fountain. The photographer screwed up the times, and there were no photos of the family other than those taken right after the ceremony. I basically took all of their photos after the ceremony because the photog was booked somewhere else, so I took all the table shots and got shots of the toast, cake, etc.

Wait...I mean you can go that route of getting married at the top and then go on one of their crazy roller coaster rides afterwards (I saw some pics). But they have several floors at the top of the tower. Their chapel room is quite beautiful and you have windows that let you see all of Las Vegas. You should check out their photo gallery. They have some really cool pics.

FH has been going to Vegas for the past 15 years. He suggests steering away from Circus Circus. They are cheap, but the hotel has not had any recent renovations, so it is not in the greatest of shape. FH booked with them one year and he got a cockroach infested room.

As for Excalibur, it is totally geared for families with kids. I would say also, Treasure Island. They have a great Pirate show at night and it is a couple of hotels down from the Bellagio.

I agree Circus Circus is not so nice. Excalibur is fun, especially for kids. The Flamingo, although older, has beautiful grounds for a wedding. And Treasure Island is great. It is linked with the Mirage so you can use both facilities.

Re: Las Vegas Wedding

Thank you so much for all of your feedback. I'm a Las Vegas virgin so this stuff is important to know. Friends of our just got married at Treasure Island and loved it. FH likes that you can get married on the pirate ship. Excalibur is definitely in the running as is the Bellagio. Keep the comments coming! Need all the help I can get since I've never been there lol
