Laser calligraphy question

So I was going to print my own envelopes....however, the printer (a really good one) crumpled the envelope while going printing because it carries it through the spindle. Do laser/computer calligraphers have special printers that don't rolll the envelopes through?

My old HP 4L has a lever that you can switch so the envelope wont roll around but just come out the back... it goes straight through.

I will probably dig it up from my parents basement and use it for envelopes.

I don't know much about other laser printers.
