So as you know, FH had the Lasik eye surgery on Monday. I was scared to death and am so happy that it went well and it is over with!
He had a new bladeless procedure that changed his life forever! He walked in needing glasses for 20/400 vision! He couldn't see anything under the big E on the reading chart. He walked out and was a little cloudy, but later that night was able to read the time stamp and temperature at the bottom of channel 5's screen!
He went back the next day for his post-op and had an eye exam...................guess what? He has BETTER than 20/20.....he has 20/15!!!!!!!!
He has some red spots on his eyeball from the suction, but that goes away. Other than that, sunglasses during the day and NO glasses for anything else! If anyone is looking into this, go for it! He is happier than ever and the place in Garden City has a doctor there that has all positive reviews (he went to this doctor because it's the same doc that did his mother's eyes 7 years ago!).
I had it done last august. the best thing I ever did. I am a huge advocate. I got mine down on stewart avenu and they took empire. Therefore, I got a discount. The whole thing wasn't covered but every little bit helps!
i want to do this so badly but im scared about it being safe... and im afraid something might go wrong before the wedding
Trust me, as much as I didn't want to think about something bad happening I couldn't help it! I was so nervous and he called me up when he went for his consultation before agreeing to it and actually asked me if it was OK to go through with. I thought that was really sweet of him to do, especially since these are HIS eyes we were talking about. He actually wanted to do them before the wedding, rather than after, so that he doesn't have to worry about contacts or glasses on the day of or for the HM. I'd go for a consult to see what it entails and decide from there....he was patient 10 of 12 that day and ALL went extremely well!
In response to all those that say they want it too: I KNOW that it is really one of the biggest decisions of your life and if it were ME, I'd never be able to go through with it. I'm not afraid of the pain or pressure, just the idea of messing with my eyes. FH didn't think of anything negative happening and was so sure that it would be great and placed his confidence in the doctor. I guess like with any procedure, doing lots of research, finding a good doctor and REALLY wanting to do it is all you need.

Hmmm I wonder if we went to the same place...I had mine done 2 1/2 yrs ago by a group off of Stewart Avenue.
I agree, best thing I ever did....My eyes are 20/15 also. It's a beautiful thing.
I am actually having the blade less lasik surgery TOMORROW after work...... I am so FREAKED out about it!!!... I want to do it so bad but I keep hearing horror stories! There was even an article in the NY Times today! I am REALLY hoping everything will go smoothly.... My stomach is (and will continue to be) in knots until it is all over with!
