Lasik Surgery - Has anyone done this?

My sister just got it done this past Friday and could not be happier.

After listening to her and seeing how happy she is, I made an appointment for a consultation.

If I am a good candidate, I am doing it.

IMO, this is wedding related, because I have been struggling with contacts so I don't have to wear my glasses on my wedding day, so I will be doing this before my wedding.

peabody, I am wondering how the surgery went!!! I think I am going to be getting it done within the next few weeks, and I am so nervous! i am having dr. hufnagel (sp?) do it from Stahl, I went to him because of you actually! one thing i didnt ask is how long it lasts, does anyone know??

Tara let me know how it goes. My parents are both in the optical business too (optician and optical office manager). Let me see if they know any helpful information and I will let you know.

I got it done a few years ago (Stahl Eye Center) and am so glad I did. I do have a problem with night blindness now- they tell you that this can happen if you have light-colored eyes or big pupils.

Tara- I talked to my mom. She said most of the same things the others have said (halo vision etc). She also said that the doctor she works with (optometrist) recommends Dr. Donnefeld from the TLC group. She was wondering also which Dr. from Stahl Group you are considering using.

Tara went last week to have it done but I haven't heard from her since! I hope everything went OK.

I hope everything went well. I feel bad I would have gotten back to her earlier. I didn't know when her appointment was. I couldn't talk to my mom until yesterday because I was at Queens for the weekend and there was so much going on there.

Just talked to Tara (peabody)--she had to have the PRK surgery instead of Lasik and is in bad shape. She was on vicodin for pain which was making her sick to her stomach and she can't see so she can't go online or drive. Poor Tara.

my FI had it done 2 years ago. he had 20/200 and now he is 20/20.....no more contacts! do it! his insurance coverd 100% though so check into that cause i think its 5000 an eye

How was it paid through insurance? I thought it is a cosmetic procedure.

hi guys.... I just got back from my final measurements... I am having the procedure done on thursday!! I am very excited, but very nervous as well! Why did tara have to have the prk??? give her our love!! tell her to make sure she is eating before the takes the vico, or else its a killer (something w/ substance too, not soup).
1017bride, Did your mom recommend stahl?? Dr. hufnagel is performing my procedure, those of you that have gone to stahl, who did you use? Has anyone heard anything about him? TIA!!!

My fiancee had it done a few years ago. The doctor she went to wants to charge full price for the enhancements you need about every 4 years I think. She is going to TLC in Garden City on Sept. 3rd. So make sure you qualify for free lifetime enhancements. Because she already had it done by another place she still has to pay for the enhancements but only 1000 per eye instead of the usual price.

I don't know how it is at other places but at TLC you can have a customized surgery done.

One of the dr.'s i work with had it done about 4 years ago w/ dr. donnenfeld, I heard that it ranges from like 1500-2900 per eye. the custom intralasik surgery being the most expensive.

i hear you, i am so nervous too, but that is exactly what i am doing, just going for it! I havent heard of any places offering financing, as far as paying it off through them. there is such a thing as care credit, which is a cc for medical expenses and offers various 0% time periods depending on what you charge (we offer this at our office and its really good). and they also take all major CC, but no personal checks unless they are certified by the bank. maybe its different @ tlc but I hear that is the norm. you should also check out the stahl eye center, i have heard great things from them and am very happy thus far!

I'll check them out also! I watched the demo cd from TLC and I could have sworn they said they have financing. Gues I'll find out when I get there. My company pays for 15% which isn't much but still something. So many people rave about it! Can't be so bad. I'm also terrified of things (besides my finger) touching my eye!

My mom recommended Dr. Donnefeld from the TLC group (According to my mom's boss, an optometrist, he is the best in the area). I don't know if she knows Dr. Hufnagel. Let me check with my mom later when I can get a hold of her.
