Late September, October, and November brides...

Original post by NYtherapist

Where are you going for your honeymoons? It's hurricane season and I'm a bit concerned.

I priced Aruba and it's more than we can afford. I've been to Curacao and while it's beautiful, the all-inclusive place isn't somewhere I'd want to stay for our honeymoon (though it's nice for a regular vacation).

Any other ideas? We're looking for an all-inclusive and need a nightlife.

Me and FH keep having this same conversation over and over again. He is very worried about hurricane season and wants to stay out of the cariibean. So we said Cabo in mexico.
I keep going back and forth about if we should take a chance and just planning somewhere like st lucia and hope for the best. But Ive been hearing that in Aruba the weather never changes and there really isnt a risk for hurricanes there.

Right now, HUbby is dead set on cabo but im thinking maybe we should try aruba

Crashing...

Girls, don't worry about hurricane season. What are the chances that it will hit the exact area that you are in? We get hurricanes in NY, does that mean you would leave here?

I will say that we went to St. Lucia in Sept of last year and while it rained a couple days we were told it was completely abnormal for it to do that. The last day we were there there was a hurricane out at sea but nothing hit us. St. Lucia and Aruba are the least likely to get hit with a hurricane. I think they said every 7 years St. Lucia gets hit and it got hit last year so you should be ok.

As for Aruba, it's too far south to get hit with a hurricane. It's 85 degrees EVERY DAY but with the breeze off the water it feels like 75-80! It's BEAUTIFUL! Honestly, if we did it all over again, we wouldn't have gone to St. Lucia (not much to the island we thought) and gone to Aruba again.

You girls can't predict the weather but if you want to stay out of the hurricane belt but go to carribean then St. Lucia and Aruba are your best bets.

Bora Bora and Moorea!! I'm going mid to late november. I am expecting some rain, but our travel agent said they barely get any in November. Rainy season starts in December. FM me if you need travel agent information, she was great!

Cabo is safe by the beginning of November; You have no worries. Aruba isn't in the hurricane belt at all, so it's also safe (and the reason it's more expensive at that time as opposed to other destinations).

BTW, Cabo is awesome. FH and I were there for a week in August '10 and we're dying to go back. If you want any Cabo info, FM me :)

I am having the same concerns about going to the Caribbean in mid-October. Although I did go to Barbados in the middle of October a few years ago and the weather was perfect. But I'm not really willing to take a chance on my honeymoon. (My brother went to the caribbean on his October HM and it rained every day ) We are talking about some different options - Hawaii, Tuscany, Alaska (not see the Northern lights). But not really sure yet. Going to meet with a travel agent in the next week.

Hawaii
Cabo - it's on the Pacific Side so I don't think hurricanes are as frequent.
